Castuera 1-0 UP Plasencia — Spanish Tercera División RFEF

Castuera secured a hard-fought 1-0 home win over UP Plasencia in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday 27 September 2026. The only goal of the game came in the second half, and Castuera's defensive resolve made it stand up through a tense closing period.

Match Overview

UP Plasencia saw more of the ball in the opening 30 minutes, moving it neatly through midfield and looking to create openings down the flanks. Castuera, however, defended in a compact block and limited the visitors to shots from distance. The first half ended goalless, with Castuera content to stay organised and wait for their moment.

That moment arrived in the 72nd minute. Castuera won possession in midfield and moved the ball quickly into the final third, where a well-timed run was rewarded with a precise finish into the bottom corner. The home crowd erupted, and from there Castuera defended with determination.

Key Moments

• 31' — Plasencia chance: A long-range effort forced a save from the Castuera goalkeeper.
• 72' — Castuera 1-0: A quick attacking transition ended with a low finish inside the penalty area.
• 85' — Defensive block: Castuera's centre-back made a crucial block to deny Plasencia an equaliser.
• 90+2' — Final save: The Castuera goalkeeper claimed a dangerous cross to secure the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Castuera set up in a disciplined 4-4-2 and focused on keeping their shape, forcing UP Plasencia to play sideways rather than through the middle. Plasencia used a 4-3-3 and tried to overload the wings, but their crosses were often met by a crowded penalty area. Castuera's midfield worked tirelessly to close gaps, and their counter-attacks became more dangerous as Plasencia pushed men forward.

The game underlined the value of defensive organisation in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF. Castuera did not dominate possession, but they controlled the most important moments and protected their lead with maturity.

Standout Players

Castuera's goalkeeper was calm and commanding, making key saves and dealing well with set pieces. The goalscorer deserved credit for a composed finish, while the centre-backs were excellent in the air. For UP Plasencia, the central midfielder kept the team ticking, but the attack lacked a decisive final ball.

Season Impact

The three points lift Castuera's early-season confidence and give them a solid platform in the league table. UP Plasencia will feel they deserved something from the game, but they will need to turn possession into clearer chances in the coming weeks. In a tight division, Castuera's ability to win narrowly could prove valuable.
