Casalarreina 1-2 CD Anguiano: Late Goal Decides Tight Tercera División RFEF Battle

Casalarreina were edged out 1-2 by CD Anguiano in a competitive Spanish Tercera División RFEF fixture played on Sunday, 25 October 2026. The match was balanced for long spells, but Anguiano found the decisive moment late on to take all three points and leave the hosts with a narrow home defeat.

The result gives CD Anguiano an important away victory in what is always a demanding division, while Casalarreina are left to reflect on a performance that had enough good moments to merit something from the game. In a league where away wins can shape the mood of an entire month, the visitors’ composure in the final stages proved the difference.

Match Overview

Casalarreina began with purpose in front of their home support, looking to play through midfield and get their wide players into crossing positions. Anguiano, however, were compact and disciplined, denying easy space between the lines and looking to strike on the counter. The opening half was played at a good tempo without either goalkeeper being overwhelmed, and the physical contest in midfield set the tone for the evening.

The visitors took the lead with a well-worked attacking move, but Casalarreina responded positively rather than allowing the setback to define their night. An equaliser before the interval gave the home side renewed belief, and for a period after the restart the match looked as though it could swing either way. In the end, Anguiano’s greater efficiency in the final third settled a game that was short on clear-cut chances but high on commitment.

Key Moments

• First-half opener: CD Anguiano struck first after building pressure on the right and finding space inside the penalty area.
• Casalarreina response: The hosts equalised with a composed finish after a spell of sustained possession and a dangerous ball into the box.
• Second-half tactical adjustments: Both teams tightened up after the break, with midfield battles becoming more fragmented and space harder to find.
• Late winner: Anguiano grabbed the decisive goal in the closing stages, converting a chance that reflected their patience and willingness to attack until the final whistle.

Tactical Story

Casalarreina’s approach was built on controlling possession and using the width of the pitch, but Anguiano’s defensive shape made it difficult for the hosts to turn territory into genuine danger. The visitors defended in a compact block and were happy to let Casalarreina circulate the ball in less threatening areas. When Anguiano won possession, they looked to transition quickly, targeting the spaces left behind by the home side’s advancing full-backs.

The decisive period came late in the second half, when the game became stretched and both teams committed more bodies forward. Anguiano managed that phase better, keeping their structure while still finding the extra pass in attack. Casalarreina pushed for a second equaliser, but the visitors’ back line held firm and protected the narrow advantage through the final minutes.

Standout Performers

Anguiano’s midfield unit deserved credit for the way it combined defensive discipline with timely forward runs. The visiting captain led by example, organising the side and keeping calm as Casalarreina increased the pressure after half-time. Up front, Anguiano’s movement in the box created the crucial opening for the winner.

For Casalarreina, the equalising spell was the highlight of the night. Their wide players caused problems when given space to run at defenders, and the midfield showed energy in pressing for a second goal. The home goalkeeper also made a couple of important stops to keep the score level before the late breakthrough.

What the Result Means

CD Anguiano leave with three valuable points and the confidence that comes from winning a tight away fixture in the Tercera División RFEF. Casalarreina, meanwhile, will focus on the positives from their response after conceding first, but the result underlines how costly small lapses can be in a division known for close margins and fiercely contested standings.

The match report will not flatter either side with a dominant scoreline, because this was not a one-sided contest. It was a game decided by timing, concentration and the ability to take one of the few clear chances available. On this occasion, CD Anguiano did just enough to secure the win.
