Cala Pozuelo ground out a narrow 1-0 victory over Leganés B in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, with a single first-half goal proving enough to separate two well-organised Madrid sides on a night when chances were at a premium.

Match Overview

Matches between Madrid clubs in Group 7 of the Tercera División RFEF are rarely open affairs, and this one followed the script. Cala Pozuelo, playing at home, set the tempo early with patient build-up and looked the more purposeful side in the opening half-hour. Leganés B, as expected of a reserve outfit, were technically tidy in possession but struggled to find a way through a compact defensive block.

The decisive moment arrived before the break. A quick turnover in midfield released Cala Pozuelo into space on the left, and the resulting ball into the box was converted with a composed finish to make it 1-0. From there, the home side managed the game with maturity, defending their advantage with discipline and denying Leganés B the space they needed to play through the lines.

Key Moments

• The only goal: A slick transition and an accurate final pass undid Leganés B's back line, with the finish slotted low past the goalkeeper.
• Goalkeeping heroics: Cala Pozuelo's keeper produced a superb reflex save late in the second half to preserve the clean sheet.
• Woodwork escape: Leganés B came closest to an equaliser when a curling effort clipped the outside of the post with ten minutes remaining.
• Game management: Cala Pozuelo killed the game effectively in the closing stages, keeping possession in the corners and winning a series of free-kicks.

Tactical Story

Cala Pozuelo deployed a disciplined 4-4-2 out of possession, with the two banks of four shifting collectively and forcing Leganés B sideways. Their pressing triggers were intelligent: whenever the visitors' centre-backs took a heavy touch, the nearest forward pressed and the midfield pushed up to squeeze the space.

Leganés B, for their part, tried to play out from the back and dominate the ball, which they did for long stretches of the second half. But without a genuine focal point in the box, their possession too often ended in crosses that were comfortably dealt with. It was a classic case of territory without penetration.

Standout Performers

The Cala Pozuelo goalscorer will take the headlines, but the honest assessment is that the game was won by the defence. The centre-back pairing was outstanding, winning everything in the air and stepping out to intercept passes before they could be played. Their goalkeeper's late save was worth as much as the goal at the other end.

For Leganés B, the left-back was a bright spark, pushing forward constantly and delivering several dangerous balls into the area. The young central midfielder also impressed with his composure, though he will be frustrated that his team could not convert control into chances.

What It Means

The win gives Cala Pozuelo a valuable three points and another clean sheet to add to their defensive record, a foundation that could prove decisive in the congested Group 7 table. Leganés B leave with nothing, but their development-focused project means performances matter as much as results, and this was a competitive, disciplined display that simply lacked a cutting edge.
