CD Binefar produced a commanding 3-1 away victory over CA Monzon in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, with a clinical second-half display turning a tight derby into a clear win.

Match Overview

The early exchanges were scrappy, with both sides struggling to keep hold of the ball in midfield. CD Binefar settled first and took the lead when a short corner was worked into the box and headed home at the back post. CA Monzon responded well, equalising before half-time through a determined run into the penalty area and a low finish that beat the goalkeeper at his near post. At that point, the match looked finely balanced.

The second half belonged to Binefar. They raised their pressing intensity, forced Monzon into several hurried clearances, and regained the lead shortly after the restart. A third goal followed as Monzon pushed bodies forward in search of an equaliser, leaving space for Binefar to counter decisively. The visitors managed the final stages comfortably, keeping possession in wide areas and limiting Monzon to hopeful crosses.

Key Moments

• Binefar took the lead from a cleverly worked corner in the first half.
• Monzon equalised before the break with a low strike from inside the box.
• Binefar restored their lead early in the second half after a high turnover.
• A late counter-attack sealed the win with Binefar’s third goal.

Tactical Story

Binefar’s success came from their ability to press in the right moments without leaving themselves exposed. They targeted Monzon’s first pass out of defence and won the ball in dangerous areas, particularly after half-time. Monzon, meanwhile, struggled to sustain attacks once their initial equaliser gave them confidence. Their midfield dropped too deep, allowing Binefar to dictate the tempo and create repeated overloads on the flanks.

Standout Players

Binefar’s striker was the standout performer, scoring twice and leading the press from the front. His movement in the box caused problems all evening, and his link-up play helped Binefar turn defence into attack quickly. For CA Monzon, the goalscorer was their brightest spark, but the home side’s defensive line could not cope with Binefar’s counter-attacks in the second half.

Season Impact

This is a statement result for CD Binefar, who showed they can win away from home against direct regional rivals. The three points will strengthen their position in the group and build belief ahead of a demanding run of fixtures. For CA Monzon, the defeat highlights the need for greater control after conceding: they matched Binefar for long spells but were undone by a ruthless ten-minute burst at the start of the second half.
