Aviles Stadium CF 1-2 Sporting de Gijon B — Spanish Tercera División RFEF

Sporting de Gijon B came from behind to claim a 2-1 away victory over Aviles Stadium CF in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday 27 September 2026. In an Asturian derby that kicked off at 18:00 local time, the visitors showed the sharper finishing and took all three points from a tightly contested regional clash.

Match Overview

Aviles Stadium CF started with energy and looked to impose themselves on the game, using the width of their home pitch to stretch Sporting de Gijon B early on. The opening goal arrived in the 18th minute when the hosts won a corner on the right and delivered a dangerous ball into the penalty area. A near-post header gave Aviles a deserved 1-0 lead and lifted the home crowd.

Sporting de Gijon B responded with patience rather than panic. The reserve side began to win more possession in midfield and equalised in the 39th minute after a sustained spell of pressure. A quick exchange on the edge of the box opened space for a low finish, and the visitors went into half-time level at 1-1.

Tactical Story

Aviles Stadium CF lined up in a 4-2-3-1 shape and tried to play quickly into the channels, while Sporting de Gijon B used a 4-3-3 that became more aggressive after the break. The visitors' midfield trio gradually controlled the tempo, winning second balls and preventing Aviles from building long sequences. Sporting B's high press also caused problems, especially in the second half when the home side tried to play out from the back.

Aviles remained dangerous from set pieces and crosses, but their final pass was often rushed in the closing stages. Sporting de Gijon B, by contrast, managed the game well after taking the lead, slowing the tempo and forcing Aviles to chase the ball.

Standout Players

Sporting de Gijon B's goalkeeper was crucial in the final 10 minutes, making a sharp save to preserve the lead. The visiting central midfielder also stood out, covering ground and linking defence with attack. For Aviles Stadium CF, the wide players caused problems in one-on-one situations, but the team lacked the same cutting edge in the final third.

Season Impact

The win gives Sporting de Gijon B an important early-season boost in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, while Aviles Stadium CF are left to reflect on a performance that produced chances but not points. In a division where away victories are often hard to come by, Sporting B's comeback will be seen as a sign of maturity and squad depth.
