Aurrera de Vitoria claimed a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Alaves C in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Saturday evening, edging a closely contested Basque derby in front of their home supporters. The win gives the hosts valuable momentum in one of the most competitive regional groups in Spanish football.

Match Overview

Matches between these two clubs always carry extra significance given their shared Vitoria-Gasteiz roots, and this one followed the expected pattern: committed challenges, little space in midfield and both teams willing to attack quickly when the opportunity arose. Aurrera started brightly and looked the more coherent side in possession during the opening half.

Alaves C, the reserve side of the city's professional club, grew into the game as it progressed and caused real problems after the interval. But Aurrera's ability to score at key moments proved decisive in a match that could easily have finished level.

Key Moments

• Aurrera take the lead: The hosts opened the scoring with a well-constructed attacking move, rewarding their positive start to the game.
• Alaves C hit back: The visitors responded and equalised, momentarily silencing the home crowd and shifting the momentum of the derby.
• The winning goal: Aurrera restored their advantage and then defended it with discipline, seeing out the closing stages without conceding again.

Tactical Story

Both teams lined up with compact midfield units, which made the central corridor a battleground for most of the evening. Aurrera's advantage came from their width — their full-backs pushed high and repeatedly created overloads against Alaves C's wide defenders, forcing the visitors to defend in awkward areas.

Alaves C's equaliser came from a more direct approach, exploiting space behind Aurrera's advanced defensive line. After retaking the lead, however, the hosts adjusted intelligently, dropping their line slightly and protecting the space in behind, which neutralised the visitors' most effective attacking route.

Standout Performers

Aurrera's goalscorers understandably took the spotlight, but the team's midfield engine room deserves credit for winning the second balls that kept the pressure on. The goalkeeper also made a crucial intervention late on to preserve the three points. For Alaves C, the goalscorer and the wide players offered the most consistent threat, and the young squad will take encouragement from competing so evenly against a strong local rival.

Season Impact

For Aurrera de Vitoria, this derby win is a confidence boost that strengthens their standing in the Tercera División RFEF group and reinforces their home form. For Alaves C, it is a narrow defeat that highlights how small the margins are at this level — a single defensive lapse proved the difference. With the reverse fixture still to come later in the campaign, this local rivalry already has a compelling sequel in store.
