Atletico Arteixo 2-4 CF Alondras produced the goal-fest of the Tercera División RFEF weekend, as the visitors from Cangas returned home with all three points after a breathless six-goal contest in Galicia. In a match that swung one way and then the other, Alondras' sharper finishing in the final half hour proved decisive, leaving Arteixo to rue a defensive collapse on their own patch.

Match overview

The game kicked off with both sides aware of how tight the Tercera División RFEF Group 1 table tends to be, and the early tempo reflected that urgency. Arteixo looked to impose themselves in the opening exchanges, pressing high and looking to turn possession into quick shots, while Alondras were content to sit slightly deeper and strike on the transition.

That approach paid dividends. The visitors took control of the scoreboard before half time and, although Arteixo twice dragged themselves back into the contest, they were never able to wrestle the initiative back for long enough to secure a result.

Key moments

• Alondras strike first — a well-worked attacking move broke the deadlock and set the tone for a fast, open contest.
• Arteixo respond — the home side levelled to lift the crowd and briefly look the more likely team to kick on.
• The decisive spell — Alondras regained the lead and then stretched it, punishing Arteixo's loose marking in midfield.
• Late consolation — Arteixo pulled one back to make it 2-4, but the clock ran out on any hope of a comeback.

Tactical story

Arteixo's biggest problem was the space they conceded in the middle third. Every time they committed bodies forward in search of an equaliser, Alondras found runners in behind and attacked with real purpose. The visitors' patience in possession, combined with a willingness to shoot from the edge of the area, gave them an edge that Arteixo's more direct approach could not match.

Where Arteixo did impress was in their persistence. Twice they answered goals with sustained spells of pressure of their own, forcing saves and corners, but the defensive lapses that had dogged their evening ultimately cost them a share of the spoils.

Standout performers

Alondras' attacking unit will take the plaudits, with their ruthlessness in front of goal the clear difference between the sides. Their forward line combined clever movement with clinical finishing, and the four goals reflected the quality of their decision-making in the final third. For Arteixo, the bright spots came from the wide areas, where their wingers repeatedly got to the byline and delivered into dangerous positions.

Season impact

Three points on the road are always valuable in the Tercera División RFEF, where away form often separates the promotion contenders from the mid-table pack. Alondras move forward with renewed confidence, while Arteixo will need to tighten up defensively if they are to climb the standings. Conceding four goals at home is a warning sign, and the coaching staff will have plenty to work on before the next fixture.
