Andes CF and EI San Martin shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday, September 20, 2026, in a match that showcased both sides’ attacking intent but also their inability to find a winning goal. The point leaves Andes CF still in the hunt for a playoff spot, while EI San Martin will be pleased with a battling away performance.

Match Overview

The 23:00 kick-off at the Campo Municipal de Andes saw the home side start as favourites, but EI San Martin arrived with a clear game plan: sit deep, absorb pressure, and strike on the break. That strategy paid off early, and although Andes CF dominated large portions of the match, they had to settle for a single point after a spirited second-half comeback.

Key Moments

• 12th minute – San Martin take a shock lead: A misplaced pass in the Andes midfield was pounced upon, and a swift counter-attack ended with a low shot into the far corner to make it 0-1.
• 29th minute – Andes nearly respond: A header from a corner was cleared off the line by a San Martin defender.
• 54th minute – Andes equalise: The pressure finally told when a neat exchange on the edge of the box opened up space, and the Andes forward curled a shot into the bottom corner for 1-1.
• 88th minute – Late drama: Andes thought they had won it when a shot beat the goalkeeper, but the assistant’s flag ruled it out for offside.

Tactical Story

Andes CF lined up in a 4-3-3 and looked to dominate possession, with their full-backs pushing high and the midfield trio circulating the ball quickly. EI San Martin defended in a narrow 4-5-1, conceding the flanks but protecting the central areas. The equaliser came when Andes finally managed to get between the lines, and after that they pushed hard for a winner. San Martin’s resilience and time-management in the closing stages earned them a valuable draw.

Standout Players

Andes CF’s attacking midfielder was the creative hub, constantly finding pockets of space and linking play. The goalscorer showed great composure with the finish. For EI San Martin, the right winger was a constant threat on the counter and provided the assist for the opening goal, while the centre-back produced a commanding display, winning numerous aerial duels and making a crucial goal-line clearance.

Table and Season Impact

The draw keeps Andes CF in contention for the promotion playoffs, but they will rue two dropped points at home. EI San Martin move a point further away from the relegation zone and will take confidence from a disciplined away performance. In the context of the Tercera División RFEF season, this result highlights the fine margins that separate the contenders from the mid-table sides.
