The match swung one way and then the other, and a late equaliser from Atletico Marbella denied Almeria B a home win that had looked within reach.

Match overview

The game was open from the start, with Almeria B looking to dominate possession and Atletico Marbella threatening through quick breaks. Both sides had spells of control, and the scoreline reflected the balance of chances. Almeria B will be disappointed not to have protected their second-half lead, while Marbella will take credit for fighting back and scoring at a crucial moment.

Key moments

• 23’ — Marbella strike first: A fast transition caught Almeria B’s defence out of shape, and a low finish gave the visitors the lead.
• 41’ — Almeria B level: A corner was met with a powerful header at the near post to make it 1-1.
• 58’ — Almeria B go ahead: A patient move ended with a shot from the edge of the area that found the bottom corner.
• 87’ — Marbella equalise: A substitute reacted quickest in the box after a scramble and forced the ball home for 2-2.

Tactical story

Almeria B controlled the ball for long periods and tried to stretch Marbella with switches of play and overlapping full-backs. Marbella, however, defended with numbers and looked dangerous whenever they won possession in midfield. The visitors’ substitutes made a difference in the final 20 minutes, adding energy and directness. Almeria B’s decision to push for a third goal left space at the back, and Marbella punished them late on.

Standout players

Almeria B’s playmaker was at the heart of their best moves, combining well between the lines and setting up several chances. The centre-forward’s hold-up play gave the home side a platform. For Marbella, the substitute who scored the equaliser changed the tempo, while their goalkeeper made two important stops earlier in the second half to keep the visitors within reach.

Season impact

The draw leaves both teams with mixed emotions but keeps them in the thick of a congested Tercera División RFEF group. Almeria B will focus on game management after letting a lead slip, while Marbella can take confidence from their resilience. In a division where away points are precious, the late equaliser could prove valuable by the end of the season.
