Alavés C 5-1 Suodu Pei: Basque youngsters produce a statement home win

Alavés C turned their Spanish Tercera División RFEF fixture into a one-sided exhibition on Sunday evening, dismantling Suodu Pei 5-1 in Vitoria-Gasteiz. A brace from Unai Bergara and a commanding second-half display gave the home side one of their most comfortable results of the campaign, with the three points wrapped up well before the closing stages.

The result continues an encouraging run of form for the club's third team, a side built almost entirely from the development pipeline at the Ciudad Deportiva de Ibaia. For Suodu Pei, the evening was a reminder of how unforgiving the division can be on the road when a team concedes early and loses control of midfield.

Match overview

• Fixture: Alavés C vs Suodu Pei
• Competition: Spanish Tercera División RFEF
• Date and kick-off: 4 October 2026, 18:00
• Final score: Alavés C 5-1 Suodu Pei

The hosts lined up with the 4-3-3 shape that has become familiar this season, pressing high and attacking quickly through the wide channels. Suodu Pei attempted to sit deeper and spring counter-attacks, but the plan collapsed after the opening goal and never truly recovered.

How the match unfolded

Alavés C took the lead inside the first quarter of an hour. A patient build from the back pulled Suodu Pei's midfield out of position, and Unai Bergara arrived at the edge of the box to finish low into the corner. The second arrived on 28 minutes, Iker Salinas converting from close range after a corner was only half-cleared.

Suodu Pei briefly gave themselves hope shortly before the interval when Marc Vidal struck on the counter, reducing the deficit to 2-1 and silencing the home crowd for a few minutes. It proved to be the visitors' only genuine foothold in the contest.

The second half was a procession. Bergara restored the two-goal cushion on 57 minutes with a composed finish after being released in behind, and Aitor Zubeldia added a fourth on 68 with a first-time strike from the edge of the area. Héctor Lasa completed the scoring six minutes from time, tapping in at the back post after another fluent move down the right.

Tactical story

The game was decided in the middle third. Alavés C's midfield trio consistently won second balls, which allowed the full-backs to push high and pin Suodu Pei into their own half. The visitors' attempts to play out from the back were repeatedly punished, and their defensive line dropped progressively deeper as the match wore on.

What stood out most was the hosts' efficiency. Five goals from a modest share of possession underlined how directly they attacked once turnovers were forced, and the substitutes introduced after the hour maintained the same intensity rather than settling on the lead.

Standout performers

• Unai Bergara: Two goals and constant movement between the lines, the clear man of the match.
• Iker Salinas: A goal plus an assist, influential in the build-up phases.
• Héctor Lasa:Sharp off the bench, capping the win with the fifth goal.
• Marc Vidal (Suodu Pei): The visitors' brightest outlet and scorer of their only goal.

What it means for the table

Three points and a healthy boost to the goal difference lift Alavés C into a far more comfortable position in the standings, and the manner of the victory will strengthen the confidence of a young squad still learning the demands of senior football. Suodu Pei leave with a heavy defeat to analyse, particularly their defensive organisation from set pieces and their inability to hold possession under pressure. Both sides return to league action next weekend, with Alavés C looking to build on a convincing home record and Suodu Pei desperate for a response in front of their own supporters.
