AD San Clemente 0-2 CD Villacanas — CD Villacanas produced a disciplined away performance in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF on Sunday, scoring in each half to secure a valuable three points at AD San Clemente.

Match Overview

Tercera División RFEF matches in Castilla-La Mancha are rarely decided by flair alone; they are usually won by the side that defends its box best and takes its chances when they arrive. That was exactly the story at 18:30 local time, as CD Villacanas kept a clean sheet, absorbed everything AD San Clemente threw at them, and punished the hosts twice on the break.

The result leaves AD San Clemente searching for answers after a home defeat in which they enjoyed more of the ball but created very little of genuine quality.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute: CD Villacanas take the lead against the run of play, finishing neatly after a quick counter down the right.
• 39th minute: AD San Clemente's best chance of the half is headed off the line from a corner.
• 55th minute: The visitors double their advantage with a composed finish inside the penalty area.
• 70th minute: San Clemente push bodies forward and force a series of corners, but the Villacanas goalkeeper stands firm.
• 85th minute: A late San Clemente effort clips the outside of the post, summing up the home side's afternoon.

Tactical Story

AD San Clemente set up to dominate possession and did exactly that, building patiently from the back and looking to overload the wings. The problem was what happened in the final third: crosses were repeatedly cleared, and the visiting centre-backs won almost every aerial duel. Villacanas, meanwhile, defended with a clear plan — a narrow back four, hard-working wide players tracking back, and a direct outlet up front.

The two goals perfectly illustrated the difference in efficiency. Both came from transitions where San Clemente had committed too many players forward, and both were finished with the sort of calmness that has been missing from the hosts' recent home performances.

Standout Players

CD Villacanas's goalkeeper was arguably the man of the match, producing two excellent saves at 1-0 and then commanding his area superbly as San Clemente piled on the pressure late. Their central defensive pairing also deserves mention for a near-flawless aerial display. For AD San Clemente, the midfielders who kept the ball moving were their brightest performers, but the attacking line lacked the sharpness needed to convert territorial dominance into goals.

What It Means

Away wins of this nature are the currency of promotion pushes in the Tercera División RFEF, where the division is split into eighteen regional groups and only the top finishers progress to the play-offs. CD Villacanas leave with three points, a clean sheet and confidence; AD San Clemente are left with a familiar lesson about the cost of failing to convert possession into end product.

With the season entering its decisive stretch, both sides will see this fixture as one that could look significant when the final standings are drawn up.
