AD Llerenense 2-1 Puebla Calzada: Late Winner Settles Tight Tercera División RFEF Contest

AD Llerenense claimed a hard-fought 2-1 win over Puebla Calzada in the Spanish Tercera División RFEF, with a late goal deciding a match that remained balanced for long spells. The three points were especially valuable for the hosts, who combined patient possession with a direct final push to break a stubborn opponent in the closing stages.

Match overview

The game was played at a competitive tempo typical of the Tercera División RFEF, where compact defences and second-ball battles often shape results. Llerenense started with purpose and looked to attack through the flanks, while Puebla Calzada sat in a disciplined mid-block and tried to spring forward on the counter. The opening goal arrived when Javi González found space between the visiting full-back and centre-back and guided a low finish into the far corner.

Puebla Calzada responded well rather than folding. After the interval, they pushed their wing-backs higher and began to win more territory. The equaliser came from a well-worked move down the right, with Rubén Sánchez arriving at the back post to convert a cross that had eluded the home goalkeeper. At 1-1, the match opened up and both sides had chances to take the lead.

Key moments

• 14th minute: Llerenense take the lead through Javi González after a quick transition from midfield.
• 57th minute: Puebla Calzada equalise through Rubén Sánchez, rewarding a stronger start to the second half.
• 78th minute: The home goalkeeper makes a strong save to deny Puebla Calzada a surprise lead.
• 86th minute: Substitute Álvaro Núñez scores the winner for Llerenense after a scramble in the box.

Tactical story

Llerenense’s success came from controlled pressure rather than constant long balls. Their midfield trio stayed close together, allowing them to recover second balls and keep Puebla Calzada pinned back for long periods. The introduction of fresh legs in the second half proved decisive: the home side moved the ball more quickly around the penalty area and found the extra yard needed for the winning goal.

Puebla Calzada will take encouragement from their response after conceding early. Their compact shape frustrated Llerenense for long spells, and their equaliser showed the value of getting numbers into the box. However, they struggled to clear their lines under late pressure, and that weakness proved costly when Núñez pounced.

Standout performers

Javi González was influential for Llerenense, not only for his goal but also for his link play between midfield and attack. The home goalkeeper also deserves credit for a crucial second-half save at 1-1. For Puebla Calzada, Rubén Sánchez was their most dangerous outlet, and his movement caused problems whenever the visitors broke forward.

What it means

The win gives AD Llerenense an important boost in the Tercera División RFEF standings and reinforces their ability to grind out results in tight matches. For Puebla Calzada, the performance offered positives, but the late concession highlights the fine margins in a division where every point matters. Both sides will now turn to their next fixtures with plenty to build on from this competitive encounter.
