Tenerife B 2-1 CD Estebona: Reserve Side Edge Narrow Segunda División RFEF Contest

Tenerife B secured a narrow 2-1 victory over CD Estebona on Sunday, 27 September 2026, in a committed and competitive Segunda División RFEF encounter. The reserve team of CD Tenerife showed resilience and quality in equal measure, coming from behind to claim all three points on home soil. For CD Estebona, it was a case of what might have been, as they matched their hosts for long periods but were undone by two moments of defensive lapses.

Match Overview

Played at Tenerife's training complex in front of a modest but vocal crowd, the match began with both sides looking to establish control in midfield. CD Estebona started brightly and took the lead midway through the first half with a well-worked move down the left flank. Tenerife B, made up largely of promising young players pushing for first-team consideration, responded with maturity beyond their years.

The equaliser arrived before the break, and the home side's winner came in the second half after a sustained spell of pressure. The victory reflects the strong development work being done within the Tenerife academy and keeps the B team competitive in a demanding fourth-tier division.

Key Moments

• 23' — CD Estebona take the lead: A low cross is converted at the near post after a quick overlap on the left.
• 44' — Tenerife B equalise: A clever through-ball splits the defence and the striker finishes calmly.
• 61' — Goalkeeping heroics: The Tenerife B goalkeeper makes a superb double save to keep the scores level.
• 72' — The winner: A corner is only half-cleared, and a Tenerife B midfielder lashes the ball into the roof of the net.
• 89' — Late pressure: CD Estebona throw everyone forward but cannot find a second equaliser.

Tactical Story

Tenerife B lined up with a fluid 4-2-3-1, looking to dominate possession and use their technically gifted young midfielders to break down a well-organised CD Estebona defence. The visitors, for their part, adopted a disciplined 4-4-2 block and looked to hit on the counter, a plan that worked perfectly for their opening goal. However, as the game wore on, Tenerife's superior fitness and ball circulation began to tell.

The decisive tactical adjustment came in the second half, when Tenerife B pushed their full-backs higher and overloaded the wide areas. That change forced CD Estebona deeper and deeper, and the winning goal from a corner was the direct result of sustained territorial pressure. Estebona's inability to keep hold of the ball in the final twenty minutes ultimately cost them a point.

Standout Players

Tenerife B's young striker was a constant menace, scoring the equaliser and linking play intelligently throughout. The goalkeeper also deserves huge praise for a match-saving double stop at 1-1. In midfield, the captain set the tone with his energy and composure. For CD Estebona, the left-winger was their most dangerous outlet and provided the assist for his team's goal, while the centre-back produced a brave defensive display despite the defeat.

What the Result Means

The three points keep Tenerife B in a healthy position in the Segunda División RFEF table and continue their reputation as one of the most watchable reserve sides in the division. CD Estebona remain within touching distance of their rivals but will rue another narrow loss. With so many games still to play, both teams will understand that fine margins like these will shape their respective seasons.
