Salmantino turned on the style at the Estadio Helmántico on Sunday night, sweeping aside RSD Alcala Henares 3-0 in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF. A clinical first-half opener, a dominant spell after the break and a late third goal gave the home side a victory that was every bit as convincing as the scoreline suggests.

The win strengthens Salmantino's position in the early-season standings and hands RSD Alcala Henares another difficult away day. From the first whistle, the hosts pressed high, moved the ball quickly through midfield and refused to let their opponents settle.

Match overview

Salmantino set up in a 4-2-3-1 and looked to attack through the half-spaces. RSD Alcala Henares defended in a compact 4-4-2, hoping to frustrate the home side and strike on the counter. For 15 minutes, the plan worked. Then Salmantino found the breakthrough.

The midfield duo of Sergio Herrero and Álvaro Martín controlled the tempo, while the front four rotated constantly. RSD Alcala Henares struggled to keep track of the runs, and once the first goal arrived, the match tilted firmly in Salmantino's favour.

Key moments

• 17th minute: Diego García opened the scoring with a low finish after a neat exchange on the edge of the box.
• 54th minute: Álvaro Martín doubled the lead, arriving late to convert a cut-back from the right.
• 82nd minute: Rubén Sánchez sealed the win with a curling effort into the far corner.
• 90th minute: Salmantino's goalkeeper kept out a late RSD Alcala Henares free kick to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical story

Salmantino's high press was the defining feature. They won possession repeatedly in RSD Alcala Henares' half and turned those turnovers into quick attacks. The away side's midfield dropped too deep, leaving a gap between the lines that Salmantino exploited all evening.

RSD Alcala Henares improved after half-time and enjoyed a brief spell of pressure, but they lacked a cutting edge. Their best chances came from set pieces, and Salmantino's back four dealt with them comfortably.

Standout players

Diego García was named man of the match after scoring the opener and causing problems throughout. Álvaro Martín's energy in midfield and Rubén Sánchez's late composure off the bench were also crucial. For RSD Alcala Henares, the goalkeeper made several saves to keep the margin respectable.

Season impact

Three points lift Salmantino into the play-off conversation and underline their promotion ambitions. RSD Alcala Henares, meanwhile, will need to improve their away form if they are to climb the table. The result leaves both clubs with clear lessons: Salmantino look capable of a sustained push, while Alcala Henares must find more bite in attack.
