Real Valladolid B produced a ruthless display in the Segunda División RFEF on Sunday evening, defeating CS Puertollano 3-0 at the Ciudad Deportiva del Real Valladolid. The reserve side, often referred to as Real Valladolid Promesas, scored inside the opening ten minutes and never looked back, adding two second-half goals to complete a comfortable victory.

Match Overview

Valladolid B started with intent, pressing Puertollano’s defenders and forcing early mistakes. The opening goal came from that pressure, and it set the tone for a one-sided contest. Puertollano tried to respond through direct balls into the channels, but the home defense read the danger well and stepped up to catch the visitors offside on multiple occasions. By half-time, Valladolid B were in full control.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Puertollano had a brief spell of possession around the hour mark, but they could not find a way through. Valladolid B’s substitute made an immediate impact, and the third goal late on was no more than their dominance deserved. The clean sheet was a particular highlight for a young back line that has been growing in confidence.

Key Moments

• 8’ – Early breakthrough: Mario Fernández pounced on a loose ball inside the box and slotted it past the goalkeeper to give Valladolid B the lead.
• 52’ – Doubling the lead: Diego Torres finished a sweeping counter-attack, converting a low cross at the back post.
• 85’ – Late third: Substitute Iván Rivas curled a shot into the far corner, putting the result beyond doubt.

Tactical Story

Real Valladolid B lined up in a 4-2-3-1 that emphasized quick ball circulation and aggressive counter-pressing. Their two holding midfielders screened the back four effectively, allowing the full-backs to advance and support the wingers. The front four interchanged positions constantly, which made it difficult for Puertollano’s defenders to pick up runners. When Valladolid B lost the ball, they swarmed it immediately, often winning it back within three or four seconds.

CS Puertollano set up in a 4-4-2 with a deep defensive line, hoping to absorb pressure and hit on the break. That plan was undone by the early goal. Once they had to chase the game, gaps appeared between the lines, and Valladolid B exploited them with sharp vertical passes. Puertollano’s midfield struggled to keep up with the tempo, and their attacking threat was limited to a few isolated set pieces.

Standout Players

Mario Fernández was a constant menace, linking play and arriving in the box at the right moments. Diego Torres controlled the midfield with maturity beyond his years, while Iván Rivas made an instant impact from the bench. The center-back partnership also deserves credit for a disciplined performance that limited Puertollano to very few clear chances.

For CS Puertollano, the goalkeeper made a string of saves to prevent a heavier defeat, and the captain tried to rally the side from midfield. However, the visitors lacked the cutting edge to trouble the scoreboard.

Season Impact

The win strengthens Real Valladolid B’s position in the Segunda División RFEF standings and continues their push for a high finish. For CS Puertollano, the defeat leaves them searching for consistency, especially away from home. With the season still in its early stages, there is time to turn things around, but performances like this show the gap that still exists between the sides.

In the broader race for promotion and relegation, every point matters. Valladolid B’s ability to score goals in bunches makes them a dangerous opponent, while Puertollano will need to tighten up defensively if they are to climb the table.
