Mijas Las Lagunas 3-1 Sevilla Atletico: Home Side Impress in Segunda División RFEF Win

Mijas Las Lagunas delivered a strong home performance to defeat Sevilla Atletico 3-1 in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF on 12 October 2026. The Andalusian clash saw the hosts combine high pressing with clinical finishing, handing Sevilla Atletico's reserve side a second-half lesson in efficiency.

With the win, Mijas Las Lagunas climb the league table and boost their confidence ahead of a busy run of fixtures. Sevilla Atletico, the developmental arm of Sevilla FC, showed glimpses of technical quality but were undone by defensive lapses and a lack of cutting edge.

Match Overview

Mijas Las Lagunas started aggressively, pressing Sevilla Atletico's defenders and forcing errors. Their reward came in the 14th minute when Pablo Ruiz intercepted a misplaced pass and slotted home from the edge of the box. Sevilla Atletico gradually settled and equalised in the 38th minute through a well-placed shot from the edge of the area after a patient build-up.

The second half belonged to the hosts. In the 54th minute, a corner was only half-cleared and Mijas midfielder Javi Molina fired in from 20 yards. Tactical Story

Mijas Las Lagunas set up to disrupt Sevilla Atletico's rhythm, using a high press and quick transitions. Their midfield trio worked tirelessly to win second balls, and their front two constantly tested the visiting centre-backs with runs in behind. Sevilla Atletico enjoyed more possession, especially in the first half, but their build-up was often too slow, allowing Mijas to recover defensively.

After the break, Mijas dropped slightly deeper and invited Sevilla Atletico forward before hitting them on the counter. That strategy produced the third goal and could have yielded more. Sevilla Atletico's coach made attacking substitutions, but the young side struggled to break down a compact and disciplined home defence.

Standout Players

Pablo Ruiz was the standout attacker, scoring twice and pressing relentlessly from the front. Javi Molina controlled the midfield and scored the crucial second goal. For Sevilla Atletico, their goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score respectable, while their No. 10 showed flashes of creativity but was often isolated.

Season Impact

The three points lift Mijas Las Lagunas into a more comfortable position in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF standings and signal their intent to challenge for the upper half of the table. Sevilla Atletico remain a work in progress, with the focus on player development, but they will need to tighten up defensively if they are to climb away from the lower reaches. This 3-1 result was a fair reflection of Mijas's greater sharpness in both boxes.
