Girona B edge five-goal thriller against CA Osasuna Promesas

Girona B came out on top in a pulsating 3-2 victory over CA Osasuna Promesas on Sunday, 27 September 2026, in the Segunda Federación (Segunda División RFEF). The match swung one way and then the other before a late winner settled a contest that showcased the best of both teams' attacking intent.

With five goals, a series of momentum shifts and chances at both ends, the game was a compelling advertisement for the development sides in Spain's fourth tier.

Match overview

Girona B started the brighter and took the lead on 18 minutes through Arnau Soler, who finished off a neat move involving the overlapping right-back. Osasuna Promesas responded well, equalising on 34 minutes when Javier Lekue found space at the back post and headed home.

The second half was frantic. Girona B restored their lead on 52 minutes, Guillem Roca firing in from distance, only for Osasuna to level again on 68 minutes through Unai García's close-range finish. Tactical story

Both sides set up to attack. Girona B used a 4-3-3 formation, with their wingers hugging the touchline to isolate Osasuna's full-backs. Their midfield rotated fluidly, creating passing lanes and allowing Soler to drift into dangerous central positions. Osasuna Promesas favoured a direct approach, using their pace on the break and looking to get crosses into the box.

The game became a battle of transitions. Osasuna repeatedly exploited space behind Girona's advanced full-backs, while Girona B's superior technical quality in midfield allowed them to create chances in bulk. In the end, it was Girona's ability to carve out one final opportunity that proved decisive.

Standout players

Arnau Soler was the hero with two goals, his movement and finishing proving too much for the Osasuna defence. Guillem Roca's long-range strike was a moment of real quality, and the midfielder also controlled the tempo of the game. For Osasuna, Javier Lekue was a constant threat and Unai García took his goal well, but defensive lapses cost them dear.

Season impact

The win pushes Girona B up the Segunda Federación table and strengthens their credentials as genuine contenders in the group. Osasuna Promesas will be frustrated to have twice fought back only to lose, but their performance showed plenty of character.

For neutrals, this was a reminder of the entertainment on offer in Spain's lower divisions, where young players eager to impress produce open, high-scoring contests. Girona B's late winner could prove a crucial moment in their season.
