Elche CF Ilicitano 1-5 UCAM Murcia: Visitors Run Riot in Segunda División RFEF

UCAM Murcia produced a stunning away performance on Saturday, 3 October 2026, thrashing Elche CF Ilicitano 5-1 in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF. The visitors were ruthless in front of goal, scoring four times in a devastating second-half spell that turned a competitive fixture into a rout.

Match Overview

Elche Ilicitano, the reserve side of Elche CF, began with energy and pressed high, but UCAM Murcia’s superior experience and cutting edge soon told. The away side led 1-0 at the break and then accelerated away after the interval, exposing gaps in the young Elche defence with incisive passing and clinical finishing. The scoreline flattered neither team: UCAM were simply magnificent going forward, while Elche’s consolation goal late on was little more than a footnote.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute – UCAM take the lead: A slick one-two on the edge of the box released the striker, who finished low into the bottom corner.
• 49th minute – 2-0: A corner was only half-cleared, and UCAM’s midfielder lashed a volley through a crowded penalty area.
• 58th minute – 3-0: A rapid counter-attack ended with a composed finish from the right side of the box.
• 71st minute – 4-0: The visitors’ forward completed his brace with a powerful header from a deep cross.
• 83rd minute – Elche pull one back: A well-worked move down the left ended with a neat finish at the near post.
• 89th minute – 5-1: UCAM added a fifth from the penalty spot after a foul in the box, capping a dominant display.

Tactical Story

UCAM Murcia set up in a flexible 4-3-3 that became a 4-2-3-1 out of possession. Their midfield trio controlled the tempo, winning the ball back quickly and launching fast transitions. Elche Ilicitano’s youthful back line struggled with the movement of UCAM’s front three, who constantly rotated positions. The key tactical shift came early in the second half when UCAM began pressing higher, forcing errors and creating a wave of chances. Elche’s attempts to play out from the back became increasingly risky, and UCAM punished them with ruthless efficiency.

Standout Players

UCAM’s centre-forward was the undisputed star of the show, scoring twice and assisting another. The attacking midfielder also caught the eye with a goal and two key passes, while the defensive midfielder broke up play repeatedly and started attacks with simple, intelligent passing. For Elche Ilicitano, the left winger showed flashes of promise and scored a well-taken consolation, but it was a chastening afternoon for a young side still finding its feet in the division.

Season Impact and Table Context

The emphatic win sends UCAM Murcia climbing the Segunda División RFEF table and signals their intent to challenge for promotion. For Elche Ilicitano, the result is a harsh lesson in the demands of senior football, but the reserve team’s development remains the priority. UCAM will take huge confidence from a five-goal away haul, while Elche’s coaching staff will focus on defensive organisation ahead of their next fixture.
