Don Benito 4-2 Atletico Central: Hosts Win Six-Goal Segunda División RFEF Thriller

Don Benito produced a strong attacking display to beat Atletico Central 4-2 in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF on 18 October 2026. The home side built a two-goal lead, withstood a brief Atletico Central response, and then sealed the points late in a match that offered chances at both ends.

The result gives Don Benito an important three points and reinforces their home form in a competitive Segunda División RFEF campaign. Atletico Central, meanwhile, leave with credit for their second-half fightback but will be disappointed by the defensive errors that allowed the hosts to score four times.

Match overview

Don Benito started with purpose and looked to press high from the opening whistle. Their midfield kept Atletico Central pinned back, and the home side’s wide players repeatedly found space behind the visiting full-backs. That early pressure produced the opening goal and set the tone for an open, end-to-end contest.

Atletico Central improved after the interval and briefly turned the game into a nervous finish for the hosts. However, Don Benito managed the closing stages well, used their experience to slow the tempo when needed, and found a fourth goal to make the scoreline comfortable.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Don Benito opened the scoring with a composed finish from inside the penalty area after a quick move down the right.
• 31st minute: The hosts doubled their lead, punishing Atletico Central for losing possession in midfield.
• 44th minute: Atletico Central pulled one back before half-time, giving the visitors hope heading into the break.
• 57th minute: Don Benito restored their two-goal cushion with a well-worked attacking sequence.
• 72nd minute: Atletico Central made it 3-2, setting up a tense final period.
• 88th minute: Don Benito sealed the win with their fourth goal, finishing calmly after a late counter-attack.

Tactical story

Don Benito’s success came from controlling the central areas and moving the ball quickly into wide positions. Their midfield rotated well, creating passing lanes and allowing the full-backs to push forward. When Atletico Central tried to press, Don Benito often bypassed the first line with a direct pass into the striker, sparking quick combinations around the box.

Atletico Central’s best spell came after half-time, when they pushed more bodies forward and forced Don Benito deeper. Their goal to make it 3-2 showed how dangerous they could be from transitions, but the visitors left too much space behind their midfield while chasing the equaliser. Don Benito’s late fourth goal was the natural consequence of that risk.

Standout performers

Don Benito’s attacking unit deserved much of the credit, particularly the home side’s No. 9, who linked play and occupied both centre-backs throughout. The midfield also dictated the rhythm of the match, while the goalkeeper made an important save at 3-2 to protect the lead.

For Atletico Central, the right-sided attacker was a constant outlet and played a key role in the visitors’ second-half revival. Their goalkeeper kept the score respectable with several saves, even though the defence struggled to contain Don Benito’s movement in the final third.

What the result means

The 4-2 win gives Don Benito momentum and a healthy boost in the Segunda División RFEF standings. Scoring four goals at home will strengthen confidence, but the coaching staff will also want a cleaner defensive performance after conceding twice. Atletico Central remain in search of consistency and will need to tighten up out of possession if they are to turn promising spells into points.
