Las Palmas Atlético Stun Linares with Late Winner

Las Palmas Atlético claimed a valuable 1-0 away victory at CD Linares Deportivo on Sunday evening, courtesy of a late goal at the Estadio Municipal de Linarejos. The result is a significant boost for the Canary Islanders' reserve side, who showed resilience and discipline to take all three points.

Linares Deportivo will be left ruing missed chances after dominating large spells of the game without finding the back of the net.

Match Overview

The hosts started brightly, pressing high and creating the first clear opportunity in the 18th minute when their striker raced through on goal, only to be denied by a fine save from the Las Palmas goalkeeper. Linares continued to probe, with crosses into the box causing problems, but the final touch was lacking.

As the game wore on, Las Palmas grew into the contest. Their young midfield began to find pockets of space, and they nearly took the lead in the 54th minute when a shot from the edge of the area clipped the outside of the post. The breakthrough finally came in the 82nd minute. A swift counter-attack ended with Kirian Rodríguez slotting a low shot past the advancing goalkeeper, sparking wild celebrations among the away bench.

Tactical Story

Linares Deportivo set up to dominate possession, using a 4-2-3-1 with attacking full-backs. However, they struggled to break down a well-drilled Las Palmas defence that sat deep and looked to counter. The visitors' plan was clear: absorb pressure, stay compact, and hit on the break with pace. It worked to perfection.

Linares' inability to convert territorial dominance into goals proved costly. As they pushed more men forward in the closing stages, they left gaps at the back, and Las Palmas exploited them ruthlessly.

Standout Players

• Kirian Rodríguez (Las Palmas Atlético): Scored the winner and was a constant threat on the counter.
• Álvaro Lemos (Las Palmas Atlético): Outstanding at right-back, defending solidly and supporting attacks.
• Rafa Mújica (Linares Deportivo): Worked tirelessly up front but lacked service in key moments.

Season Impact

Las Palmas Atlético climb the Segunda División RFEF table with a morale-boosting win. For Linares Deportivo, it is a missed opportunity to gain ground on their rivals. They remain in mid-table but will need to improve their finishing if they are to challenge for promotion. The defeat highlights the fine margins in this division.
