CD Basconia 2-2 Arosa SC: Late Equaliser Rescues a Point for Basconia

CD Basconia fought back from a goal down twice to earn a 2-2 draw against Arosa SC in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF on Saturday, 19 September 2026. The hosts showed remarkable resilience to salvage a point in a hard-fought encounter at their home ground.

Match Overview

Arosa SC, the Galician side known for their organised defending and dangerous set pieces, took the lead twice, but Basconia refused to lie down. The match was a physical battle with both teams committed to attacking football, producing four goals and plenty of chances at both ends.

Key Moments

• 18' – Arosa SC take the lead through a towering header from centre-back Iago Vázquez.
• 39' – Basconia equalise when winger Unai López curls a shot into the far corner.
• 61' – Arosa restore their advantage via a quick counter, finished by striker Brais Mella.
• 84' – Basconia's substitute, Aitor Ruiz, scores a dramatic late equaliser from inside the box.

Tactical Story

Basconia, the farm team of Athletic Club, lined up with their usual 4-4-2 and looked to dominate possession. However, Arosa's compact 5-3-2 formation proved difficult to break down, and their counter-attacks caused problems all afternoon. Basconia's manager made attacking substitutions in the second half, switching to a more direct approach that eventually paid off with the late goal.

Standout Players

Unai López was Basconia's most creative outlet, his equalising goal a moment of individual brilliance. Aitor Ruiz made an instant impact from the bench. For Arosa, Iago Vázquez was superb at both ends, while Brais Mella's pace and movement kept the Basconia defence on edge. Both goalkeepers made crucial saves to keep the scoreline level in the closing stages.

Season Impact

The draw leaves both teams with mixed feelings. Basconia will be pleased with the character shown but frustrated at conceding twice at home. Arosa will feel they let two points slip away after leading twice. In the crowded Segunda División RFEF table, every point counts, and this hard-earned draw could prove valuable come the end of the season.
