FC Barcelona Atlètic Edge Barbastro 1-0 in Segunda División RFEF

FC Barcelona Atlètic claimed a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over Barbastro in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF. The match, played on Sunday, September 20, 2026, was decided by a single second-half goal, as the young Barcelona side showed patience and control to break down a stubborn opponent.

Barbastro defended deep and looked to frustrate the visitors, but Barcelona Atlètic’s persistence paid off. The win keeps the Blaugrana reserve team in the promotion-playoff conversation and highlights the quality of their academy pipeline.

Match Overview

Barcelona Atlètic dominated possession from the opening whistle, circulating the ball quickly and looking to isolate their wingers in one-on-one situations. Barbastro sat in a compact 5-4-1 block, conceding territory but limiting clear chances. The first half ended goalless, with Barcelona’s best opportunity coming from a long-range effort that clipped the outside of the post.

The breakthrough arrived in the 63rd minute. Unai Hernández collected a pass on the edge of the box, shifted the ball onto his left foot and curled a precise shot into the far corner. Barbastro responded with a brief spell of pressure, but Barcelona Atlètic managed the closing stages calmly to secure all three points.

Key Moments

• 28th minute: Barcelona Atlètic strike the post with a dipping effort from outside the area.
• 63rd minute: Unai Hernández scores the only goal with a well-placed curling shot.
• 78th minute: Barbastro’s best chance is cleared off the line after a goalmouth scramble.
• 90+3 minute: Barcelona Atlètic goalkeeper makes a crucial save to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Barcelona Atlètic used their trademark positional play, with the full-backs pushing high and the midfielders rotating to create passing angles. Barbastro’s low block was difficult to penetrate, but the visitors remained patient and avoided forcing low-percentage crosses. The introduction of fresh legs on the wings in the second half helped stretch the defensive line.

Barbastro’s game plan was built on discipline, set pieces and quick counters. They nearly found an equaliser from a corner, but Barcelona’s defensive organisation held firm. The visitors’ ability to control tempo in the final 15 minutes was just as important as the goal itself.

Standout Players

Unai Hernández: The match-winner produced a moment of individual quality that separated the two sides. He was also tidy in possession and linked play effectively between midfield and attack.

Noah Darvich: The young playmaker dictated the rhythm for Barcelona Atlètic, constantly finding pockets of space and feeding the wide players.

Barbastro goalkeeper: Despite the defeat, he made several smart saves and commanded his area well, keeping his team in the contest until the final whistle.

Standings and Season Impact

With the win, FC Barcelona Atlètic maintain their position among the leading group in the Segunda División RFEF. The three points are valuable in a division where away victories are often hard to come by. Barbastro remain in the lower half of the table but will take encouragement from a disciplined defensive display against one of the league’s strongest reserve sides.

For Barcelona Atlètic, the challenge now is consistency. If they can turn dominant possession into more goals, they will be a serious contender for promotion. Barbastro, meanwhile, must find more attacking threat to climb away from danger.
