Atletico Sanluqueno 3-3 Recreativo Huelva: Six-Goal Thriller Ends All Square

Atletico Sanluqueno and Recreativo Huelva played out a remarkable 3-3 draw in the Spanish Segunda División RFEF on 12 October 2026. The Andalusian derby at the Estadio El Palmar produced six goals, momentum swings and a late equaliser that left both sets of supporters breathless.

Recreativo Huelva, one of the most historic clubs in Spanish football, looked set to claim a valuable away win after taking a 3-2 lead in the second half. But Sanluqueno's persistence paid off with a late goal, extending their unbeaten run and denying Recreativo a statement victory.

Match Overview

Sanluqueno started the brighter and took the lead in the 12th minute when a low cross from the right was turned in by striker Dani González. Recreativo responded in the 25th minute through a header from a corner, only for Sanluqueno to regain the advantage in the 43rd minute with a penalty converted by their captain, Álvaro Cordero.

The second half was even more frantic. Recreativo equalised in the 58th minute with a powerful shot from inside the box, then took the lead in the 72nd minute when their striker, Nico Rodríguez, scored his second of the game on the counter. Sanluqueno refused to fold and found a late equaliser in the 88th minute, substitute Manu Parejo finishing from close range after a goalmouth scramble.

Tactical Story

Both teams prioritised attack over caution, creating an open contest with plenty of space between the lines. Sanluqueno looked to play direct football, using their strikers' movement to stretch Recreativo's back line. Recreativo preferred to dominate possession and were at their best when switching play quickly to the flanks. However, both defences struggled with crosses and set pieces throughout the night.

The game's turning point appeared to be Recreativo's third goal, which came after Sanluqueno pushed men forward in search of a second equaliser. But the hosts showed excellent character to keep pressing and were rewarded when a late corner caused chaos in the box. The draw was arguably the fairest outcome from a match that neither side controlled for long periods.

Standout Players

Nico Rodríguez was Recreativo's biggest threat, scoring twice and leading the counter-attack with intelligence. Sanluqueno's Dani González was a constant nuisance in the box and opened the scoring, while substitute Manu Parejo made a decisive impact with the late equaliser. Both goalkeepers were busy, though they will be disappointed with some of the defending in front of them.

Season Impact

Recreativo Huelva remain in the promotion conversation but will view this as two points dropped after leading late. Atletico Sanluqueno, meanwhile, continue to show resilience and remain difficult to beat at home. In the crowded Spanish Segunda División RFEF standings, every point is precious, and this six-goal draw adds another layer of intrigue to the Andalusian clubs' seasons.
