Andorra CF secured a hard-fought 1-0 win over Castellon in the Spanish Segunda Division on 11 October 2026, with a second-half goal separating the sides at the Estadi Nacional.

In a match of few clear chances, Andorra's patience and defensive organisation proved decisive as they claimed all three points against a Castellon side that struggled to find any rhythm in the attacking third.

Match overview

The first half was tight and tactical, with both teams cautious in possession and unwilling to commit too many bodies forward. Andorra saw more of the ball but found it difficult to break down a well-drilled Castellon defence.

Castellon's best moment came from a set-piece midway through the first half, but a header flashed wide of the post. Andorra responded with a series of corners of their own, though the breakthrough remained elusive before the interval.

Key moments

• 27' – Castellon header wide: A free-kick into the box is met at the near post, but the effort drifts off target.
• 52' – Andorra pressure: A sustained spell of possession forces three consecutive corners, raising the noise inside the stadium.
• 72' – Andorra 1-0: A clever cut-back from the byline is swept home first-time from the edge of the area, sparking wild celebrations.
• 88' – Late Castellon chance: A volley from inside the box is blocked bravely by an Andorra defender to preserve the clean sheet.

Tactical story

Andorra set up with a midfield diamond, looking to overload the centre and create space for their full-backs to advance. Their patience in possession was a feature of the performance, and they were rewarded when the goal finally arrived.

Castellon, by contrast, struggled to string passes together in the final third. Their front two were isolated for long periods, and when they did get into promising positions, the final ball was often overhit or easily cut out.

Standout players

Andorra's goalscorer showed great composure to finish the decisive chance, while the centre-back pairing were commanding throughout. Castellon's goalkeeper made two fine saves to keep his side in the game, but his teammates could not find an equaliser.

Table impact

The win lifts Andorra into a more comfortable position in the Segunda Division standings and extends their strong home form. Castellon, meanwhile, remain in mid-table and will be frustrated at failing to take anything from a game that was there for the taking.
