Almeria 2-0 Celta Vigo B: Rojiblancos Stay Strong in Segunda Division Promotion Race

Almeria secured a professional 2-0 victory over Celta Vigo B in the Spanish Segunda Division at the Power Horse Stadium. Two well-taken goals and a commanding defensive display gave the Andalusians all three points in their push for promotion back to La Liga.

Celta Vigo B arrived with a young, energetic side and showed flashes of quality, but Almeria's experience and physicality proved decisive. The home team controlled the key moments and never looked likely to surrender their lead once they went ahead.

Match Overview

Almeria began with intent, pressing high and forcing Celta Vigo B into early mistakes. The visitors tried to play out from the back, but Almeria's front two cut off passing lanes and created turnovers in dangerous areas. The opening goal came from exactly that kind of pressure, with a quick transition ending in a low finish.

After the break, Celta Vigo B saw more of the ball but struggled to break down a well-organised Almeria defence. The hosts doubled their advantage with a composed finish after a well-worked move down the right, effectively ending the contest. From there, Almeria managed the game with maturity, slowing the tempo and protecting their clean sheet.

Key Moments

• 34' – Almeria 1-0: Adrián Embarba opens the scoring with a precise strike from the edge of the box after a turnover.
• 69' – Almeria 2-0: Leo Baptistao doubles the lead, finishing calmly after a cut-back from the right.
• 84' – Celta Vigo B chance: The visitors force a strong save from Almeria's goalkeeper, their best opportunity of the night.

Tactical Story

Almeria's 4-2-3-1 worked efficiently in both phases. Without the ball, they pressed in a mid-block, allowing Celta Vigo B to have possession in harmless areas before engaging. With the ball, they looked to attack quickly through the half-spaces, targeting the space behind Celta's adventurous full-backs.

Celta Vigo B's youthful midfield showed composure in spells, but they lacked a cutting edge in the final third. Their coach made attacking substitutions in the second half, yet Almeria's centre-backs dealt comfortably with crosses and long balls. The experience gap was evident in the decisive moments.

Standout Players

Adrián Embarba was lively throughout, combining intelligent movement with a clinical finish. Leo Baptistao led the line with strength and link-up play, and his goal was a reward for his work rate. In defence, Almeria's goalkeeper and centre-back pairing were commanding, securing a valuable clean sheet.

For Celta Vigo B, the young goalkeeper made several saves to keep the score down, while their captain in midfield tried to drive the team forward. But the visitors rarely tested Almeria's back line consistently.

Segunda Division Table Impact

This result keeps Almeria firmly in the promotion conversation, maintaining pressure on the teams above them in the Segunda Division standings. A clean sheet and a two-goal win will boost confidence ahead of a demanding run of fixtures.

Celta Vigo B remain in a development phase, and while defeats are part of the learning curve, they will want to convert possession into more clear-cut chances. For Almeria, the focus is simple: keep stacking wins and stay in the automatic promotion race.
