Indautxu U19 and CD Alaves U19 played out a 0-0 draw in the Spanish U19 League on 5 October 2026, a result that reflected two well-organised defences and a shortage of cutting edge in the final third. In a division where goal difference can decide promotion and playoff places, both coaches left the pitch with mixed feelings: a clean sheet preserved, but two points dropped.

Match Overview

The youthful ranks of the Spanish academy system produce technically accomplished football, and this fixture was no exception. Indautxu, a club with deep roots in the Bilbao area, set up with a narrow midfield diamond and looked to dominate the ball, while Alaves — the youth arm of the Vitoria-based LaLiga club — sat in a compact mid-block and looked to strike on the counter.

The first half followed a familiar pattern: Indautxu enjoying territorial advantage, Alaves defending with discipline and clearing their lines effectively. Chances were at a premium, and the two goalkeepers were rarely called into serious action.

Key Moments

• Opening exchanges: Indautxu pinned their opponents back for the first ten minutes, but crosses from the right were comfortably gathered.
• Best save of the match: Alaves' goalkeeper produced the standout stop of the afternoon, tipping a dipping effort from distance over the crossbar.
• Alaves' counter: The visitors' brightest moment came from a quick transition, a low shot dragged wide of the near post with the goal at their mercy.
• Late pressure: The final fifteen minutes brought a flurry of corners for the hosts, all of which were repelled by a resolute back line.

Tactical Story

This was a match decided by defensive organisation rather than attacking flair. Alaves' back four held an excellent line, stepping up at the right moments to catch the Indautxu forwards offside and refusing to be dragged out of shape by lateral passing. Their holding midfielder screened the area in front of the defence with real maturity.

Indautxu's issue was a familiar one at youth level: too much possession without enough penetration. Their wingers regularly beat their marker, but the delivery into the box lacked variety, and the centre-forward was often isolated against two physical defenders. A more direct approach in the closing stages nearly paid off, but the finishing touch never arrived.

Standout Performers

Both goalkeepers deserve credit for the clean sheets, with the Alaves number one the busier of the two and the Indautxu keeper authoritative on crosses. In midfield, Indautxu's deep-lying playmaker was the most technically assured player on the pitch, while Alaves' right-sided defender impressed with his timing in the tackle and his composure under pressure.

What It Means

A point apiece keeps both sides competitive in a demanding youth league where consistency is the currency of success. For Alaves U19, an away clean sheet against a technically strong opponent is a genuine positive and a platform for the weeks ahead. For Indautxu U19, the performance will reinforce the belief that they can compete with academy sides from larger clubs, even if the finishing remains the final piece of the puzzle.

The teams will meet again later in the campaign, and on this evidence that return fixture could look very different if either side finds its scoring touch.
