Eibar U19 secure convincing Basque derby win over CD Alaves U19

Eibar U19 claimed a 3-0 victory over CD Alaves U19 in the Spanish U19 League on 17 October 2026, producing a controlled and clinical Basque derby performance. The home side scored once before half-time before adding two more goals after the break, securing a clean sheet and three valuable points.

The result gives Eibar U19 a strong platform in the standings and reinforces their reputation as a well-organised youth side capable of dominating local rivals. CD Alaves U19, meanwhile, will look back at key moments in the second half and rue their inability to convert pressure into goals.

Match overview

Eibar U19 started with confidence and dictated the early tempo, using quick passing to move Alaves around the pitch. Their breakthrough came in the 14th minute when a well-timed run into the box was met with a precise finish. Alaves responded with some promising attacks of their own, but Eibar’s defensive block held firm before half-time.

The second half saw Eibar take complete control. A second goal in the 55th minute gave them breathing space, and a third in the 79th minute put the result beyond doubt. Alaves continued to work hard, but they struggled to break down a disciplined home defence.

Key moments

• 14th minute: Eibar U19 opened the scoring with a sharp finish after a patient attacking move.
• 55th minute: Eibar doubled their lead with a well-placed shot from the edge of the penalty area.
• 79th minute: A quick break and an emphatic finish made it 3-0 and effectively ended Alaves’s hopes of a comeback.

Tactical story

Eibar U19 were excellent in both phases of the game. With the ball, they played through midfield with patience and used their width to create overloads. Without it, they pressed smartly and forced Alaves into hurried passes, limiting the visitors’ ability to build sustained attacks.

CD Alaves U19 had moments of promise, particularly when they managed to get their wingers into one-on-one situations, but they lacked a finishing touch. Eibar’s centre-back pairing dealt well with crosses and second balls, allowing the hosts to protect their lead and control the closing stages.

Standout performers

Eibar’s attacking midfielder was the standout player, contributing to the first goal and dictating play throughout. The centre-forward also impressed with movement and link-up play, while the goalkeeper made a couple of important saves to preserve the clean sheet. For Alaves, the left winger was their most dangerous outlet, but he was often isolated.

Season impact

The three points strengthen Eibar U19’s position in the Spanish U19 League and give them confidence ahead of a demanding run of fixtures. The clean sheet will be particularly pleasing for the coaching staff, as will the spread of goals across the team. For CD Alaves U19, the defeat highlights the need for greater cutting edge in attacking areas and more resilience when the momentum shifts against them. Both sides will now regroup for their next matches, with Eibar looking to build and Alaves eager to respond.
