Athletic Bilbao B Women claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Fundacion CD Tenerife B Women in the Spanish Segunda Futfem on 20 September 2026, with a second-half goal settling a tightly contested fixture. The result gives Bilbao B three valuable points in the early-season standings and extends their strong home record in the division.

Match Overview

From the opening whistle, Athletic Bilbao B Women looked to impose themselves through quick ball circulation and aggressive pressing. Tenerife B Women, well organised in a compact 4-4-2, absorbed the early pressure and threatened on the break. The first half produced few clear chances, but the home side's patience was rewarded after the interval when they broke the deadlock with a well-worked move down the right flank. A low cross was turned in from close range, sending the home bench into celebration.

Key Moments

• First half: Bilbao B controlled possession but Tenerife B's goalkeeper made two sharp saves to keep the score level.
• Second half: The decisive goal arrived after a sustained spell of pressure, with a clinical finish from inside the penalty area.
• Late drama: Tenerife B pushed players forward in the final 10 minutes, but Bilbao B's defence held firm, clearing a dangerous free-kick in stoppage time.

Tactical Story

Bilbao B's midfield trio dictated the tempo, winning second balls and switching play to isolate the full-backs. Tenerife B defended deep and looked to counter through their wide players, but the final pass was often lacking. The home side's high line and coordinated pressing limited the visitors to few meaningful shots on target. The winning goal came from exactly the kind of patient build-up the coaching staff had demanded.

Standout Players

The Bilbao B centre-back pairing was outstanding, winning aerial duels and stepping out of defence to start attacks. The goalscorer showed composure beyond their years, while Tenerife B's goalkeeper was arguably the best player on the pitch despite ending on the losing side. The away captain drove her team forward admirably in the closing stages.

Season Impact

This 1-0 win lifts Athletic Bilbao B Women into a more comfortable position in the Segunda Futfem table and reinforces their credentials as a promotion contender. For Fundacion CD Tenerife B Women, the narrow defeat is a frustrating result but their defensive organisation suggests they will remain competitive. The two sides will meet again later in the season, and that return fixture already looks like an important head-to-head in the battle for standings positions.
