Real Sociedad came from behind to beat Levante 2-1 in Spanish La Liga on October 26, 2026, with second-half goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Take Kubo turning a difficult evening into an important home victory. The result keeps Real Sociedad in the hunt for European places and leaves Levante frustrated after a promising start at the Reale Arena.

Match overview

Levante stunned the home crowd early, taking the lead inside the first ten minutes through Roger Brugué after a quick counterattack. Real Sociedad responded with patience and dominated possession for the rest of the first half, equalizing just before the interval through Oyarzabal. The second half was largely one-way traffic, and Kubo's winner arrived with just over fifteen minutes remaining.

• 9' Roger Brugué gave Levante the lead with a low finish on the break.
• 45+2' Mikel Oyarzabal equalized from the penalty spot after a handball.
• 76' Take Kubo scored the winner with a precise effort from the right side of the box.

Key moments

Levante's early goal was a reminder of their counterattacking threat. A long ball over the top caught Real Sociedad's back line high, and Brugué finished calmly. The home side responded well, moving the ball quickly and forcing Levante deeper. The equalizer came in first-half stoppage time, when a VAR review confirmed a handball and Oyarzabal converted from twelve yards.

The second half was a test of Real Sociedad's patience. Levante defended bravely, but the pressure eventually told. Kubo's winner was a moment of individual quality: a sharp cut inside, a quick shift of the ball, and a low finish into the far corner. Levante pushed for a late equalizer but could not find a clear chance.

Tactical story

Real Sociedad controlled the game with a 4-3-3 that emphasized possession and positional rotation. Oyarzabal drifted between the lines, while Kubo isolated his marker on the right. Levante's 4-4-2 block was well organized for long spells, but the home side's width and quick ball circulation eventually created gaps.

The key adjustment came in the second half, when Real Sociedad pushed their full-backs higher and added an extra runner into the box. That forced Levante's midfielders deeper and created space for Kubo to attack. Levante's counterattacks became less frequent as the game wore on, and their defensive resilience finally broke.

Standout players

Mikel Oyarzabal was central to Real Sociedad's comeback, showing composure from the penalty spot and linking play throughout. Take Kubo's winner was the decisive moment, and his ability to beat defenders in one-on-one situations gave the home side a constant outlet. For Levante, Roger Brugué took his goal well and worked tirelessly, while the goalkeeper made several important saves to keep the scoreline close.

La Liga table impact

The victory adds three important points to Real Sociedad's La Liga total and keeps them in touch with the European qualification places. For Levante, the defeat is a reminder of the fine margins in the Spanish top flight: an excellent start was undone by a penalty and a moment of quality. Real Sociedad's ability to win despite not being at their best will encourage their supporters, while Levante must turn promising performances into points quickly.
