Marist FC produced a commanding 3-0 victory over Laugu United in the Solomon Islands Telekom S-League on 24 October 2026, with a dominant performance at both ends of the pitch securing all three points.

Match Overview

Marist FC set the tone from the opening whistle, pressing high and forcing Laugu United into hurried clearances and misplaced passes in midfield. The home side's early control was rewarded with the opening goal, and from that point on they managed the game with maturity, denying Laugu any real foothold in the contest.

Laugu United struggled to sustain possession and were repeatedly pushed back toward their own penalty area. When they did manage to break forward, Marist's defensive unit remained compact and alert, snuffing out attacks before they could develop into clear chances. The scoreline reflected the balance of play, with Marist's clinical finishing and organized defense proving decisive.

Key Moments

• 12th minute: Marist FC took the lead after a quick exchange on the right flank opened up space for a low cross, which was turned in at the near post.
• 38th minute: The home side doubled their advantage from a corner, with a powerful header finding the back of the net despite Laugu's attempts to clear.
• 61st minute: Laugu United's best spell of the match produced a rare shot on target, but Marist's goalkeeper stood firm to preserve the two-goal cushion.
• 74th minute: Marist sealed the win on the counter-attack, breaking quickly through midfield before a composed finish made it 3-0.

Tactical Story

Marist FC's midfield trio controlled the rhythm of the match, winning second balls and linking defense to attack with sharp, purposeful passing. Their high pressing forced Laugu United into long balls, which were comfortably dealt with by Marist's center-backs. The home side's full-backs also pushed forward regularly, creating overloads on the wings and stretching Laugu's defensive shape.

Laugu United attempted to sit deeper and hit on the break, but their transitions were too slow to trouble Marist consistently. When they did find space, the final pass lacked precision. Marist, meanwhile, remained patient in possession and ruthless in the final third, turning promising spells into goals at key moments in the match.

Standout Performers

Marist FC's midfield controller was at the heart of everything positive, dictating play and breaking up Laugu's rare attacks. The center-back partnership was equally impressive, winning aerial duels and stepping out to intercept passes before danger could develop. Up front, Marist's movement and link-up play caused problems throughout, even if the goals came from different phases of play.

Laugu United's goalkeeper deserves credit for keeping the scoreline from becoming heavier, making several saves in the second half. The visitors' captain tried to drive the team forward from midfield, but the support around her was limited by Marist's aggressive pressing and disciplined defensive structure.

What the Win Means

The three points strengthen Marist FC's position in the Solomon Islands Telekom S-League standings and give them a healthy goal-difference boost. The clean sheet will be especially pleasing, underlining the balance between their attacking ambition and defensive solidity. For Laugu United, the defeat leaves them with work to do, particularly in finding a way to create clearer chances against well-organized opposition.

Marist FC's 3-0 win is a statement of intent in the Solomon Islands Telekom S-League, and the manner of the performance will give the squad confidence as the season progresses. Laugu United, meanwhile, must regroup quickly and look for a response in their next fixture.
