CD Universidad de El Salvador and Once Deportivo Ahuachapán played out a thrilling 3-3 draw in the El Salvador Segunda División on 26 October 2026, with a stoppage-time equaliser capping a remarkable six-goal contest. The match had everything: early dominance, a comeback, a late lead and a dramatic finish.

Match Overview

Universidad de El Salvador started the stronger side and raced into a 2-0 lead inside the first 25 minutes. Their pressing unsettled the visitors, and two quick goals gave the home supporters hope of a comfortable afternoon. Once Deportivo Ahuachapán, however, responded well. They pulled one back before half-time and then equalised early in the second half to change the momentum of the game.

The visitors went ahead for the first time in the 76th minute, finishing a swift counter-attack with a low shot across the goalkeeper. It looked as though Ahuachapán would take all three points, but Universidad de El Salvador never stopped pushing. Their persistence paid off in the third minute of stoppage time when a deep cross was headed back across goal and converted from close range to make it 3-3.

Tactical Story

Universidad de El Salvador’s early dominance came from aggressive pressing and quick ball recovery in midfield. Their two-goal lead was built on set-piece pressure and direct running. However, once Ahuachapán settled into the game, the visitors’ midfield began to find space between the lines, and the match became an end-to-end affair.

Ahuachapán’s second-half performance was composed and clinical. They defended deeper, invited pressure and then used rapid transitions to create chances. Universidad de El Salvador pushed more players forward in the closing stages, which left them exposed at the back but ultimately allowed them to salvage a point with the last meaningful attack of the match.

Standout Players

Universidad de El Salvador’s attacking players caused problems throughout, particularly with their movement in and around the penalty area. Once Deportivo Ahuachapán’s midfield was excellent in the second half, turning defence into attack and controlling the tempo of the comeback. Both goalkeepers were kept busy in a game that could easily have produced even more goals.

Season Impact

A point apiece keeps both teams in the mix in the El Salvador Segunda División. For Universidad de El Salvador, the draw will feel like a relief after surrendering a two-goal lead, while Ahuachapán will be frustrated to have conceded so late. The result adds another layer of intrigue to the promotion race and shows why the Segunda División remains one of the most unpredictable competitions in Salvadoran football.
