CD Sal y Mar produced one of their most convincing performances of the El Salvador Segunda División season on Thursday, dismantling AD Tenancingo 4-0 in a match that was effectively decided long before the closing stages. A commanding first-half display set the tone, and the home side never allowed their visitors a route back into the contest.

Match Overview

• Competition: El Salvador Segunda División
• Fixture: CD Sal y Mar vs AD Tenancingo
• Date: 17 September 2026
• Final score: CD Sal y Mar 4-0 AD Tenancingo
• Result: Home win

The four-goal margin flattered neither side. Sal y Mar controlled possession from the opening whistle, pressed aggressively in the middle third and punished Tenancingo whenever the visitors tried to play out from the back. By the time the second half began, the question was no longer who would win, but how heavily the scoreline would lean.

How the Match Unfolded

Sal y Mar started with intent, pushing their wide players high and forcing Tenancingo into hurried clearances. The breakthrough arrived during a sustained spell of pressure, and once the first goal went in, the home side's confidence visibly grew. A second followed before the interval as Tenancingo's defensive line struggled to track runners arriving late into the box.

The pattern repeated after the restart. Tenancingo attempted to raise their line and press higher in search of a foothold, but that only opened space behind the defence. Sal y Mar needed little invitation, adding two more goals in the second half to complete a comfortable, professional victory in front of their home supporters.

Key Moments That Shaped the Result

• Opening goal: Sal y Mar's early pressure paid off, settling nerves and forcing Tenancingo onto the back foot.
• Second before half-time: The decisive blow — it turned a competitive game into a one-sided one.
• Third goal after the break: Tenancingo pushed forward, lost shape, and were punished on the counter.
• Fourth goal: A ruthless finish that completed the scoring and underlined the gap in quality on the night.

Tactical Story

Sal y Mar's shape was the foundation of the win. With a compact midfield block and quick transitions, they repeatedly turned defence into attack within a few passes. Their full-backs pushed forward to stretch Tenancingo's back line, creating overloads in wide areas and pulling centre-backs out of position.

Tenancingo, by contrast, never found a way to hold the ball long enough to relieve pressure. Their build-up play was rushed, their midfield was overrun, and their defensive cover in transition was consistently a step behind. Chasing the game after conceding early, they were left exposed — the classic recipe for a heavy away defeat.

Standout Performers

Sal y Mar's attacking unit took the headlines, but the platform was built by a midfield that won the second balls and dictated tempo. Defensively, the home side's clean sheet was as valuable as the goals: it kept Tenancingo's confidence low and ensured there was never a tense moment in the closing half hour.

For Tenancingo, the positives were limited but not nonexistent. There were brief spells of tidy combination play, and their goalkeeper was called into action repeatedly. Turning those moments into something meaningful will be the priority for the coaching staff in the days ahead.

What the Win Means

Three points and a four-goal swing are valuable currency in the Segunda División, where goal difference and momentum often decide the shape of the table come the final rounds. A 4-0 home win strengthens Sal y Mar's position in the standings, boosts their attacking numbers for the season, and gives them a result to build on in the weeks that follow.

For AD Tenancingo, the defeat is a setback that will demand a response. Away days in this division are unforgiving, and a heavy loss can linger if it is not addressed quickly. Their next fixtures will be about restoring structure, tightening the defensive line, and finding a way to stay competitive when they concede first.

Key Takeaways

• Tenancingo conceded early and never recovered their shape.
