CD Cacahuatique 0-0 Alianza San Salvador: Goalkeepers Shine in Primera Division Stalemate

CD Cacahuatique and Alianza San Salvador played out a tense 0-0 draw in El Salvador’s Primera Division on October 18, 2026, as two well-organised defences cancelled each other out. Alianza arrived as one of the division’s most dangerous attacking sides, but Cacahuatique produced a disciplined, patient performance to earn a hard-fought point on home soil.

Match overview

The visitors controlled possession for long periods, moving the ball patiently through midfield and looking for openings around the edge of the penalty area. Cacahuatique, by contrast, sat compact, denied central spaces and looked to strike on the counter. The result was a match of few clear-cut chances but plenty of tactical tension, with both teams aware of the stakes.

Alianza’s best spell came midway through the first half, when a series of corners and free kicks tested the home defence. Cacahuatique survived that pressure and grew in confidence after the break, creating a handful of half-chances of their own. Neither goalkeeper was beaten, and both will feel they contributed significantly to the clean sheet.

Key moments

• 12th minute: Alianza force the first meaningful save, with Cacahuatique’s goalkeeper pushing a low drive around the post.
• 34th minute: A goal-bound header is cleared off the line as Cacahuatique’s defence holds firm.
• 58th minute: Alianza’s midfielder curls a shot narrowly wide after a neat exchange at the edge of the box.
• 82nd minute: Cacahuatique break quickly, but the final shot is blocked by a last-ditch challenge.

Tactical story

Alianza San Salvador’s game plan revolved around patient possession and overlapping full-backs, but Cacahuatique’s defensive block made it difficult to find space in behind. The hosts defended narrow, forcing Alianza wide and then contesting crosses with numbers. That approach limited the visitors to mostly speculative efforts from distance.

Cacahuatique’s counter-attacking threat improved as the match wore on, particularly after they introduced fresh pace on the wings. However, the final pass lacked precision in key moments. Alianza pushed more players forward late on, but Cacahuatique’s midfield protected the back four well, ensuring the home side earned a valuable point.

Standout performers

The Cacahuatique goalkeeper was the standout figure, producing a composed display and two important saves in the first half. The central defensive partnership also deserves credit for keeping Alianza’s forwards quiet. For Alianza, the deep-lying midfielder dictated the tempo and recycled possession intelligently, while their centre-back dealt comfortably with most of the home side’s counter-attacks.

What the draw means

The draw keeps Alianza San Salvador in the title conversation, but it is a result that may feel like two points dropped given their dominance of possession. Cacahuatique, meanwhile, will view it as proof of their growing competitiveness against one of El Salvador’s top clubs. In a tight Primera Division campaign, clean sheets and home points against strong opposition can be crucial come the final standings.
