NK Svoboda Ljubljana secured a narrow 1-0 victory over NK Brezice 1919 in the Slovenia 2.Liga on 27 September 2026. A single goal was enough to separate the sides in a closely fought encounter at the Svoboda Sports Park.

The win gives Svoboda a valuable three points in their quest to climb the table, while Brezice are left to rue a missed opportunity.

Match Overview

The first half was a tight, tactical battle with few clear chances. Svoboda tried to assert themselves through possession, while Brezice looked dangerous on the break. The decisive moment came in the 38th minute. A quick passing move down the right ended with a low cross into the box, and Alen Rojc was on hand to turn the ball in from close range. It was a goal that rewarded Svoboda’s patience and pressure.

Brezice pushed for an equaliser in the second half, but Svoboda’s defence held firm. The visitors had a few half-chances from set-pieces, but they lacked the cutting edge to beat the goalkeeper. Svoboda managed the game well in the closing stages, keeping possession and running down the clock.

Tactical Story

Svoboda set up in a 4-3-3 and focused on building attacks patiently from the back. Their midfield trio rotated well, creating overloads in wide areas. Brezice, using a 4-2-3-1, tried to press high but were often bypassed by Svoboda’s quick passing. After taking the lead, Svoboda dropped deeper and invited pressure, relying on their solid centre-back pairing to clear crosses. Brezice struggled to find space between the lines and were reduced to shots from distance. The home side’s game management in the final 15 minutes was excellent.

Standout Players

Alen Rojc will take the headlines for his match-winning goal, but Svoboda’s goalkeeper, Matic Zorman, was equally important with a vital second-half save. Centre-back Jure Novak was a commanding presence, winning everything in the air. For Brezice, midfielder Tim Kovačevič worked tirelessly and tried to drive his team forward, while winger Blaž Jereb caused a few problems with his pace. However, they lacked a finisher on the night.

Table and Season Impact

The three points lift NK Svoboda Ljubljana further up the Slovenia 2.Liga standings, keeping them in touch with the promotion play-off places. For NK Brezice 1919, it is a frustrating defeat that leaves them looking over their shoulder. Both teams will face important fixtures next weekend as the season continues to take shape.
