NK Skofja Loka secured a convincing 3-1 victory over NK Rudar Trbovlje in the Slovenia 3.Liga on 3 October 2026, delivering a performance full of pace, precision, and clinical finishing. The home side were dominant for long stretches, and the three points lift them into a promising position in the early-season standings.

Match Overview

From the first whistle, NK Skofja Loka took the initiative. Their high pressing forced Rudar Trbovlje into several early turnovers, and it came as no surprise when they took the lead in the 18th minute. A swift exchange between Anže Novak and Žan Košir ended with the latter firing a low shot into the bottom corner. The home team doubled their advantage just before the half-hour mark when Matic Rupnik rose highest to head in a pinpoint cross from the left.

Rudar Trbovlje, who had struggled to keep possession, managed to pull one back against the run of play in the 52nd minute. A quick counter-attack saw Blaž Zupančič race clear and slot the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper. That goal gave the visitors a brief lift, but NK Skofja Loka restored their two-goal cushion in the 74th minute through substitute Filip Kovač, who finished off a slick team move. Rudar pushed forward late on, but the home defence held firm to secure all three points.

Tactical Story

NK Skofja Loka lined up in a 4-2-3-1 that allowed their full-backs to push high and overload the flanks. The midfield duo of Luka Mohorič and Jan Kos controlled the centre of the park, winning the ball back quickly and distributing it intelligently. Rudar Trbovlje, by contrast, sat deep in a 5-3-2, hoping to catch their hosts on the break. That plan worked for a brief period after their goal, but NK Skofja Loka's superior technical quality and movement eventually told. The home side's third goal was a perfect example of their dominance: a flowing move involving five players before Kovač applied the finish.

Standout Players

Žan Košir was a constant menace, scoring one and assisting another. His dribbling and link-up play caused Rudar problems all evening. Matic Rupnik was solid at the back and dangerous from set-pieces, while Filip Kovač made an instant impact from the bench. For Rudar Trbovlje, Blaž Zupančič took his goal well and was his team's most lively attacker, but the defence struggled to contain the waves of Skofja Loka attacks.

Table Impact

This win strengthens NK Skofja Loka's position in the upper half of the Slovenia 3.Liga table, keeping them within touching distance of the promotion places. Rudar Trbovlje remain in mid-table, and this defeat highlights the gap between the division's stronger sides and those fighting for consistency. For NK Skofja Loka, the challenge now is to maintain this level of performance, especially in away fixtures where they have been less convincing.

With a balanced attack and a solid defensive structure, NK Skofja Loka look like genuine contenders for a top finish this season. Rudar Trbovlje, meanwhile, will need to tighten up at the back if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation battle.
