NK Ormoz 1-3 NK Race: Visitors Advance with Strong Second-Half Display

NK Race came from behind to beat NK Ormoz 3-1 in the Slovenia Cup on 24 October 2026, with Nejc Novak scoring twice before Tim Hribar sealed the victory late on. Ormoz had taken an early lead through Žiga Kralj, but Race’s response was measured and powerful, turning the cup tie around after the interval.

The home side started with energy and were rewarded in the 15th minute when Kralj finished a quick attacking move. Ormoz tried to build on that advantage, but NK Race stayed calm and began to impose themselves in midfield. The equaliser arrived in the 32nd minute through Novak, who found space in the box and converted with a composed finish.

Key Moments

The second half belonged largely to NK Race. They controlled possession, pressed higher up the pitch, and created the clearer chances. Novak struck again in the 61st minute to put the visitors ahead, and Hribar added a third in the 85th minute to remove any doubt about the result. Ormoz pushed late in search of a route back into the tie, but Race managed the closing minutes well.

• 15th minute: Žiga Kralj gives NK Ormoz the lead.
• 32nd minute: Nejc Novak equalises for NK Race.
• 61st minute: Novak scores his second to put Race ahead.
• 85th minute: Tim Hribar seals the win.

Tactical Story

NK Ormoz’s early goal came from a bright start, but they struggled to maintain that intensity once Race settled into the match. The visitors’ midfield took control after the equaliser, winning second balls and forcing Ormoz deeper. Race’s sharper movement in the final third made the difference, especially in the second half when they turned territorial pressure into goals.

Standout Performers

Novak was the key figure for NK Race, scoring twice and leading the attacking line with intelligent movement. Hribar’s late goal capped a strong team performance, while Race’s midfield deserved credit for controlling the tempo after the break. For Ormoz, Kralj’s early goal was a bright moment, but the home side could not build on it.

Cup Impact

The Slovenia Cup result sends NK Race through at Ormoz’s expense and underlines their ability to respond after conceding first. For NK Ormoz, the defeat is a disappointing end to a cup night that began promisingly. Race’s second-half display showed the kind of clinical edge that makes a team dangerous in knockout football.
