Bhantal secured an important 2-0 victory over Wusum Stars in the Sierra Leone Premier League, combining solid defending with two well-worked goals to claim all three points. Match overview

• Competition: Sierra Leone Premier League
• Fixture: Bhantal vs Wusum Stars
• Result: Bhantal 2-0 Wusum Stars
• Date: 24 October 2026

Bhantal started with purpose, pressing high and forcing Wusum Stars into early mistakes. The opening goal arrived after a period of sustained pressure, and the home side never looked back. Wusum Stars improved after the break but struggled to create clear chances against a disciplined Bhantal defence.

Key moments

The breakthrough came when Mohamed Kamara finished calmly after a quick move down the right. Bhantal doubled their advantage before half-time through Ibrahim Sesay, whose well-placed shot gave the Wusum Stars goalkeeper no chance. Those two goals gave the home side a cushion that they protected intelligently.

Wusum Stars’ best opportunity came midway through the second half, but a combination of brave goalkeeping and a goal-line clearance kept the visitors out. Bhantal then managed the closing stages professionally, slowing the tempo and limiting space in midfield.

Tactical story

Bhantal’s success was built on balance. Their midfield won the majority of second balls, allowing the team to sustain attacks without leaving the defence exposed. The full-backs pushed forward selectively, supporting the wingers while ensuring Wusum Stars could not counter effectively.

Wusum Stars tried to respond by playing more directly in the second half, but Bhantal’s centre-backs dealt well with the aerial threat. The home side’s compact shape forced Wusum Stars into wide areas, where crosses were often overhit or comfortably collected.

Standout performers

Kamara and Sesay took the goals, but Bhantal’s midfield anchor deserved just as much praise for breaking up play and recycling possession. The goalkeeper also made a key save at 2-0, preserving the clean sheet and preventing a tense finale.

For Wusum Stars, the central defender was their most consistent performer, making several important blocks and interceptions. However, the team lacked the creative spark needed to unlock a well-drilled Bhantal back line.

Table impact and what comes next

The win gives Bhantal a valuable three points and a confidence boost in the Sierra Leone Premier League standings. A clean sheet will please the coaching staff as much as the goals, especially in a league where defensive consistency often separates the top sides from the rest.

Wusum Stars will return to training knowing they must find more penetration in the final third. The defeat leaves them with work to do, but the competitive nature of the league means an immediate response is possible. For Bhantal, the challenge is to build on this performance and turn home victories into a sustained run.
