Johor Darul Ta'zim FC 6-0 Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC: JDT Make Statement in Shopee Cup

Johor Darul Ta'zim FC produced a ruthless attacking performance in the Asean Club Championship Shopee Cup, dismantling Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC 6-0 on October 8, 2026. The Malaysian champions were in complete control from the first whistle, scoring three goals in each half to record one of the most emphatic scorelines of the tournament.

The result sends a clear message to the rest of the competition. JDT were faster, sharper and far more clinical in the final third, while Svay Rieng struggled to contain the constant waves of pressure. By the time the full-time whistle arrived, the contest had long been settled as a one-sided affair.

Match Overview

Johor Darul Ta'zim set the tone early with high pressing and quick ball circulation. The home side dominated possession, pinning Svay Rieng deep inside their own half and forcing repeated turnovers. The opening goal arrived inside the first quarter of an hour, and from that moment the visitors never looked capable of mounting a comeback.

JDT’s midfield controlled the rhythm of the game, switching play from side to side and creating overloads in wide areas. Svay Rieng attempted to defend in a compact block, but the sheer speed of Johor’s movement off the ball repeatedly opened gaps between the lines. By half-time, the scoreline already reflected the home side’s superiority.

Key Moments

• Early breakthrough: Johor Darul Ta’zim opened the scoring with a well-worked move down the right, finished confidently at the near post.
• Quick double: The hosts added a second and third before the break, capitalising on defensive hesitation and a misplaced pass in midfield.
• Second-half onslaught: JDT refused to ease off after the interval, adding three more goals through a mix of set-piece power and open-play brilliance.
• Clean sheet: Despite the scoreline, Johor’s defence stayed focused, limiting Svay Rieng to very few clear chances and preserving the shutout.

Tactical Story

Johor Darul Ta’zim lined up with an aggressive 4-3-3 that allowed their full-backs to push high and their wingers to isolate defenders in one-on-one situations. The midfield trio recycled possession quickly, ensuring that Svay Rieng could never settle into a defensive rhythm. When the visitors did win the ball, they were immediately closed down and forced into hurried clearances.

Svay Rieng’s plan appeared to be damage limitation through a deep defensive block, but they struggled to track runners from midfield. Johor’s movement was relentless: forwards dropped to link play, wide players stretched the pitch, and late runners arrived in the box to finish chances. It was a complete attacking performance that combined patience with ruthlessness.

Standout Players

Johor’s attacking unit shared the load, with their wide forwards and central striker causing problems throughout. The captain led by example in midfield, breaking up play and launching counterattacks with crisp forward passes. In defence, the centre-backs were composed and alert, snuffing out the rare moments of danger before they could develop.

For Svay Rieng, the goalkeeper was left exposed far too often, making several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat. The visitors’ most promising spells came late in the second half, but by then the game was well beyond reach. Their midfield worked hard without the ball, yet the gulf in quality and intensity was simply too large.

Shopee Cup Table and Season Impact

The 6-0 win gives Johor Darul Ta’zim a significant boost in the Asean Club Championship Shopee Cup standings, adding three points and a huge goal-difference advantage. In a competition where group-stage margins can decide qualification, such a dominant result could prove invaluable later in the campaign.

For Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC, the defeat is a difficult setback that leaves them needing a strong response in their next fixture. They will need to regroup defensively and find a way to keep games tighter if they are to remain competitive in the tournament. For JDT, the message is simple: they are among the teams to beat, and on this form they look capable of going deep in the Shopee Cup.
