Yantai Team claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zibo Team in the Shandong Qilu Football Super League on Saturday evening, thanks to a second-half strike from Sun Peng. The win moves Yantai up to second in the table, while Zibo remain in sixth after a frustrating night in front of goal.

Match Overview

Zibo Team started the match on the front foot, dominating possession and creating several half-chances in the opening 30 minutes. However, they were unable to find a breakthrough against a resolute Yantai defence. The visitors grew into the game and took the lead in the 67th minute when Sun Peng latched onto a through ball and calmly finished past the Zibo goalkeeper. Zibo pushed for an equaliser in the final 20 minutes, but Yantai's goalkeeper produced a series of fine saves to preserve the clean sheet.

Key Moments

• 67' – Goal: Sun Peng scores the only goal of the game for Yantai.
• 82' – Save: Yantai goalkeeper denies Zibo's striker with a point-blank stop.
• 90+3' – Miss: Zibo header goes narrowly wide from a corner.

Tactical Story

Zibo Team lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, looking to control the midfield and create chances through their wide players. Yantai, meanwhile, set up in a defensive 5-4-1, inviting pressure and looking to hit on the counter-attack. That approach worked perfectly, as Yantai absorbed Zibo's attacks and struck with a rare foray forward. Zibo's manager will be concerned about his side's lack of cutting edge, having now failed to score in three of their last four matches.

Standout Players

Sun Peng was the match-winner for Yantai, taking his goal with great composure. Yantai's goalkeeper was also outstanding, making several crucial saves. For Zibo, their captain worked tirelessly in midfield, but the forwards were unable to convert their chances.

Season Impact

The three points lift Yantai Team to second place, two points behind the leaders with a game in hand. Zibo Team stay sixth, six points adrift of the promotion places. Yantai will look to continue their push for the title next weekend against Weihai Team, while Zibo travel to Jinan Team.
