Taishan Team edged Qingdao Team 3-2 in a five-goal thriller at their home ground on Saturday, September 19, 2026, strengthening their position in the Shandong Qilu Football Super League after a night of attacking football, momentum swings, and late pressure.

The 19:30 kickoff produced exactly the kind of contest the league has become known for: quick transitions, committed duels in midfield, and a finish that kept both sets of supporters uncertain until the final whistle. Taishan led 3-1 at one stage, but Qingdao’s late response turned the closing minutes into a tense examination of the home side’s defensive resolve.

Match Overview

Qingdao Team started the brighter of the two sides and were rewarded in the 12th minute when Zhao Rui latched onto a loose ball just outside the penalty area and drove a low effort into the bottom corner. The away side’s early lead silenced the home crowd, but it also sharpened Taishan’s urgency.

Taishan gradually imposed themselves through midfield, using quick switches of play to stretch Qingdao’s back line. The equaliser arrived in the 34th minute when Wang Haoran timed his run perfectly to meet a cross from the right and guide a header past the goalkeeper. That goal changed the emotional tone of the match, and Taishan went into the interval with the better momentum.

After the break, Taishan took control. They moved the ball more patiently, pushed their full-backs higher, and created overloads in wide areas. The pressure told in the 58th minute when Zhang Wei finished a flowing team move with a composed strike from the edge of the box. Wang Haoran then added his second of the night in the 73rd minute, converting a rebound after Qingdao’s goalkeeper had made a strong initial save.

Qingdao refused to fold. Liu Yuchen pulled one back in the 84th minute with a well-placed free kick that curled beyond the Taishan wall and into the net. That set up a frantic finale, but Taishan managed the game well enough to protect their one-goal advantage.

Tactical Story

Taishan lined up in a 4-3-3 and looked to dominate possession through the middle, with their central midfielders rotating to create passing lanes. Their best moments came when they moved the ball quickly from side to side, forcing Qingdao’s defensive block to shift and creating space between the lines.

Qingdao set up in a 4-2-3-1 and were dangerous on the counterattack, especially in the first half. Their early goal gave them something to defend, and they looked comfortable sitting slightly deeper and springing forward through the channels. However, as Taishan increased the tempo after halftime, Qingdao struggled to keep track of runners arriving late in the box.

The match was ultimately decided by Taishan’s ability to turn territorial pressure into goals during a dominant 20-minute spell after the break. Qingdao’s late free kick made the scoreline dramatic, but Taishan’s control in possession and sharper finishing in the key moments proved decisive.

Standout Players

Wang Haoran was the obvious match-winner for Taishan, scoring twice and constantly troubling Qingdao’s centre-backs with his movement. Zhang Wei also impressed, not only for his goal but for his link-up play and willingness to drive forward from midfield.

For Qingdao, Zhao Rui was lively throughout and took his early goal well, while Liu Yuchen produced the moment of the second half with a precise free kick that set up a tense conclusion. Qingdao’s goalkeeper also made several important saves to keep the scoreline close.

What the Result Means

The three points give Taishan Team a valuable boost in the Shandong Qilu Football Super League standings, reinforcing their push for a strong finish and adding another memorable result to their home campaign. Qingdao Team, meanwhile, will take encouragement from their fighting response but will rue the defensive lapses that allowed Taishan to score three times.
