FK Usce Novi Beograd U19 came from behind to beat Jedinstvo UB U19 2-1 in the Serbian U19 League, showing character and composure in a match that tested the patience of both sides. The home team’s second-half response turned a difficult start into an important three-point result.

Match overview

Jedinstvo UB U19 began the brighter of the two teams, pressing high and forcing Usce into early mistakes. Their reward came midway through the first half when they opened the scoring with a well-placed finish after a quick move down the right. Usce needed time to settle, but they gradually found their rhythm and equalised before the interval with a goal that came from sustained pressure and a smart finish inside the box.

The second half was more open as both teams pushed for the winner. Usce looked the stronger side physically and began to win more duels in midfield. The decisive goal arrived with just over 15 minutes remaining, a reward for the home team’s improved control and willingness to attack through the middle.

Key moments

The opening goal gave Jedinstvo confidence and briefly unsettled Usce, but the equaliser was crucial. It arrived after a spell of possession and a well-timed run into the penalty area. In the second half, Usce’s goalkeeper made a vital save at 1-1 to keep the scores level, before the home side scored what proved to be the winner. Jedinstvo pushed late for a second equaliser, but Usce’s defence held firm.

Tactical story

Usce’s ability to adjust their pressing shape after the first 20 minutes was central to the comeback. They began to close the space between midfield and defence, making it harder for Jedinstvo to play through the lines. In possession, Usce used the width of the pitch well and were rewarded for their patience. Jedinstvo’s youthful energy was evident throughout, but they were eventually outmanoeuvred in the key central areas.

Standout players

Usce’s midfielder was the driving force behind the comeback, linking play and setting the tempo. The centre-forward’s movement created space for others, while the goalkeeper’s second-half save proved to be a turning point. For Jedinstvo UB U19, the wide attacker who scored the opener was their most dangerous player, and their captain led by example in midfield despite the result.

League impact

The victory gives FK Usce Novi Beograd U19 a valuable three points and reinforces the team’s ability to respond to adversity. In a development league, comebacks like this can be just as important as convincing wins, offering lessons in resilience and game management. Jedinstvo UB U19 will be disappointed to lose after taking the lead, but their performance showed enough promise to suggest they will remain competitive in the Serbian U19 League.
