Vojvodina Novi Sad 1-1 FK IMT Belgrad: Points Shared in Superliga Clash

Vojvodina Novi Sad and FK IMT Belgrad played out a 1-1 draw in the Serbian Mozzart Bet Superliga on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Karadjordje Stadium. The result was a fair reflection of a match in which both teams showed moments of quality but also displayed the defensive vulnerabilities that have troubled them this season.

Match Overview

Vojvodina, one of the most historic clubs in Serbian football, began the match as the favourites and quickly took control of possession. Their midfield dictated the tempo, and they created the first clear chance when their winger cut inside and forced a smart save from the IMT goalkeeper. IMT, however, were well-organised and dangerous on the break. Against the run of play, they took the lead in the 30th minute with a swift counterattack, finished off by a cool strike from the edge of the box.

The goal stunned the home crowd, but Vojvodina responded with renewed urgency. They pushed forward in numbers and equalised just before half-time. A well-delivered cross from the right was met by a powerful header that gave the goalkeeper no chance. The second half was a tense affair, with Vojvodina pressing for a winner and IMT looking to hit on the counter. Both sides had opportunities, but the goalkeepers were in fine form, and the match ended level.

Key Moments

• IMT opener: A quick break and a precise finish gave the visitors a shock lead.
• Vojvodina equaliser: A towering header from a cross brought the home side level before the break.
• Second-half chances: Vojvodina hit the post, while IMT forced a superb save from the Vojvodina goalkeeper.
• Late pressure: Vojvodina laid siege to the IMT goal in the final ten minutes but could not find a winner.

Tactical Story

Vojvodina set up in a 4-2-3-1 with a focus on controlling the midfield and feeding their wingers in advanced positions. They dominated possession but struggled to break down a stubborn IMT defence that sat deep and defended in numbers. IMT's 5-3-2 formation was designed to frustrate and counter, and it worked for long periods. Their goal came from a classic transition, exploiting the space left by Vojvodina's advanced full-backs.

In the second half, Vojvodina's manager made attacking substitutions to increase the pressure, but IMT's defence held firm. The visitors also had chances to win it on the break, but poor decision-making in the final third cost them. Tactically, it was a case of Vojvodina's possession versus IMT's resilience, and neither side could land the decisive blow.

Standout Performers

Vojvodina's centre-back who scored the equaliser was immense, winning everything in the air and driving his team forward. Their playmaker was at the heart of most attacks, constantly probing for openings. For IMT, the goalscorer was a constant threat on the counter, while their goalkeeper produced a man-of-the-match performance with several crucial saves, including a late stop to deny Vojvodina a winner.

What It Means for the Table

The draw leaves Vojvodina still in the hunt for the European places, but they will be frustrated at dropping points at home. IMT, meanwhile, will be delighted with a hard-earned away point against one of the league's biggest clubs. In the Serbian Mozzart Bet Superliga standings, every point is crucial, and this result keeps both teams in the mix as the season progresses. Vojvodina will need to convert dominance into goals if they are to challenge at the top, while IMT will take confidence from their defensive display. The return fixture later in the campaign will be an intriguing rematch.
