FK Zeleznicar Pancevo 2-1 FK Čukarički: Late Winner Settles Serbian Superliga Thriller

FK Zeleznicar Pancevo edged FK Čukarički 2-1 in the Serbian Mozzart Bet Superliga on Monday, September 21, 2026, thanks to a late goal that sparked wild celebrations at Stadion Železničar. The home side twice had to withstand pressure but found the decisive moment in the closing stages.

The match was a contrast in styles: Zeleznicar’s direct, energetic approach against Čukarički’s patient possession game. In the end, the hosts’ intensity and set-piece threat made the difference.

Match Overview

Zeleznicar started brightly and took the lead inside the first half. Their high press forced Čukarički into mistakes, and the home crowd urged them forward at every opportunity. Čukarički gradually settled and equalised after the break with a well-worked move through midfield.

For a spell, the visitors looked the more likely side to score again. But Zeleznicar weathered the storm, made smart substitutions, and grabbed the winner in the 84th minute. The final minutes were tense, but the home defence held firm.

Key Moments

• 22nd minute: Zeleznicar opened the scoring when Petar Jovanović fired home from just inside the box after a poor clearance.
• 58th minute: Čukarički equalised through Aleksandar Kovačević, who finished calmly after a slick one-two on the edge of the area.
• 84th minute: Marko Đurić scored the winner for Zeleznicar, rising highest to head in a corner.
• 90+4th minute: Čukarički’s last attack ended with a blocked shot, and the referee blew for full time moments later.

Tactical Story

Zeleznicar set up to disrupt Čukarički’s rhythm. Their midfield pressed aggressively, and their wide players tracked back diligently to prevent overloads. On the ball, they looked to play forward quickly and win set pieces in dangerous areas.

Čukarički controlled long spells of possession, especially in the second half, but struggled to create clear-cut chances against a packed defence. Their equaliser came from their best move of the match, yet they could not build on it. Zeleznicar’s willingness to keep attacking late on was rewarded with the winning corner.

Standout Players

Marko Đurić was the hero for Zeleznicar, not only for his goal but also for his tireless running in midfield. Petar Jovanović opened the scoring and caused problems with his movement. The goalkeeper also made two important saves at 1-1 to keep the score level.

For Čukarički, Aleksandar Kovačević was their brightest attacking player, linking play and scoring the equaliser. But the visitors will be disappointed with how easily the winning header was conceded.

Superliga Table Impact

The three points lift FK Zeleznicar Pancevo into a stronger position in the Serbian Mozzart Bet Superliga table, adding momentum to their season. FK Čukarički remain a dangerous side but miss the chance to close the gap on the teams above them.

For Zeleznicar, the win is proof that they can compete with established top-flight clubs. For Čukarički, the focus will be on game management and defending set pieces ahead of their next league match.
