Borac Cacak 1-2 Radnik Surdulica: Serbian Cup Match Report

Radnik Surdulica advanced in the Serbian Cup with a 2-1 away victory over Borac Cacak on 28 October 2026, winning a tightly contested knockout tie that was decided by a second-half goal. Borac Cacak made the brighter start and took the lead, but Radnik responded before half-time and then found the decisive moment late in the second period to book their place in the next round.

The match had the typical rhythm of cup football: spells of caution, moments of pressing, and a final phase in which both sides understood that one mistake could settle the tie. Radnik Surdulica managed that pressure better, defending with composure and striking at the right time to leave Borac Cacak with a narrow but painful exit.

Match overview

Borac Cacak began with more energy in front of their home support and looked to move the ball quickly into wide areas. That approach produced the opening goal and gave the home side a platform to control the first half. Radnik Surdulica, however, stayed within touching distance and equalized before the interval, changing the mood of the contest.

After the break, the tie became more stretched. Borac pushed numbers forward in search of a second goal, while Radnik looked increasingly dangerous on the counterattack. The winning goal arrived in the 78th minute, and from that point Radnik defended their advantage with discipline, limiting Borac to half-chances rather than clear openings.

Tactical story

Borac Cacak’s plan was built on early pressure and getting the ball into dangerous crossing positions. For much of the first half it worked well, especially when their midfielders moved forward to support the striker. The home side won second balls and forced Radnik Surdulica to defend deep, but they could not turn that control into a two-goal cushion.

Radnik Surdulica adjusted by narrowing their defensive shape and inviting Borac to play through the middle. That made the home side’s attacks more predictable and created space for quick transitions. The visitors’ winning goal was a clear example of that approach: a compact defensive moment followed by a direct run and a finish before Borac could recover.

In the final 15 minutes, Radnik dropped deeper and protected the central areas. Borac Cacak sent more players forward, but the equalizer never arrived. The away side’s game management—slowing the tempo, winning fouls, and clearing crosses—was as important as the winning goal itself.

Standout performers

Radnik Surdulica’s goalkeeper produced two important saves, one in each half, and handled crosses well under late pressure. The back line also deserve credit for recovering after conceding early and for keeping Borac’s most dangerous attacker relatively quiet after the break. In midfield, Radnik’s deeper player helped turn defence into attack quickly, especially in the build-up to the winner.

For Borac Cacak, the central midfielder was the team’s most consistent presence, linking play and driving the team forward. The home side’s striker worked hard and scored the opener, but service dried up in the final half-hour as Radnik closed the spaces around the penalty area.

What the result means

The victory sends Radnik Surdulica into the next round of the Serbian Cup and gives them a valuable confidence boost from a difficult away tie. Cup runs can change the mood around a club’s season, and Radnik will now wait to see who they face next.

For Borac Cacak, the elimination is a frustrating setback. They showed enough in the first half to suggest they could progress, but cup football punishes teams that fail to take their chances. Borac will now turn their attention ba
