Inverness 2-0 Stenhousemuir: Caley Thistle Secure Comfortable Home Win

Inverness Caledonian Thistle claimed a dominant 2-0 victory over Stenhousemuir in the Scottish Championship on 10 October 2026, with two second-half goals sealing all three points at the Caledonian Stadium. The win moves Inverness into a stronger position in the table, while Stenhousemuir remain in the relegation battle.

Match Overview

Inverness controlled the first half without finding the breakthrough. They dominated possession, with their wingers causing problems, but Stenhousemuir defended deep and limited clear chances. The best opportunity of the opening 45 minutes fell to the Inverness striker, who headed over from six yards after a precise cross.

The deadlock was broken in the 58th minute when a quick passing move ended with a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Inverness doubled their lead in the 74th minute, capitalising on a defensive error and finishing calmly one-on-one with the goalkeeper. Stenhousemuir rarely threatened after that, and Inverness managed the game professionally to secure a clean sheet.

Tactical Story

Stenhousemuir set up in a 5-4-1, looking to frustrate and counter, but they struggled to hold the ball and were eventually punished. Inverness's pressing was relentless, forcing turnovers in dangerous areas.

Standout Players

The Inverness central midfielder was the architect, completing the most passes and providing the assist for the opening goal. The striker who scored the second was a constant threat with his movement. For Stenhousemuir, their goalkeeper made several fine saves to keep the score respectable, while their captain worked hard in midfield.

Season Impact

This win gives Inverness a valuable boost in their push for a promotion playoff place. Stenhousemuir, meanwhile, remain in the lower reaches of the Scottish Championship and will need to improve quickly to avoid being dragged into a relegation fight. Inverness's home form is becoming a key asset, and they will look to build on this performance in the coming weeks.
