Etoile Carouge Women 3-0 FFV Basel Women: Ruthless First-Half Display Secures SBW Victory

Etoile Carouge Women delivered a dominant home performance on 18 October 2026, defeating FFV Basel Women 3-0 in the SBW. A strong first-half display set the foundation for the win, with Carouge’s pressing and quick ball movement proving too much for the visitors to handle.

The result was built on control rather than chaos. Carouge defended high, won possession in dangerous areas and converted their chances with composure. By the time the second half began, the home side had established a lead that never seriously looked under threat.

Match Overview

Carouge started with intent, pressing Basel’s defenders and forcing early turnovers. The opening goal arrived after a sustained spell of pressure, with a well-placed finish from inside the penalty area. The home side doubled their advantage before half-time, capitalizing on a defensive error and converting with confidence.

Basel attempted to respond after the break, but Carouge’s midfield remained compact and disciplined. The third goal came late in the second half, sealing a victory that reflected the home team’s superior cutting edge in the final third.

Key Moments

• First goal: Carouge’s high press forced a turnover, and the resulting attack was finished calmly.
• Second goal: A quick transition doubled the lead and left Basel with a mountain to climb.
• Third goal: A late strike completed the scoring and capped a strong team performance.
• Clean sheet: Carouge’s back line dealt with Basel’s second-half pressure to preserve the shutout.

Tactical Story

Etoile Carouge’s approach was clear from the first whistle: press high, force mistakes and attack quickly. Their midfielders stayed close together, making it difficult for Basel to play through the center. When Basel went long, Carouge’s defenders won the first contact and their midfield picked up the second balls.

Basel’s best moments came when they managed to switch play quickly, but those moments were too infrequent. Carouge’s wide players tracked back diligently, limiting crosses into the box, while the central defenders remained alert to runners in behind. The home side’s game management in the second half was particularly impressive, as they slowed the tempo and protected their lead.

Standout Performers

Carouge’s attacking players deserved the headlines, but the midfield engine room was equally important. Their ability to win loose balls and recycle possession kept the pressure on Basel. The goalkeeper also made a couple of smart saves when called upon, ensuring the clean sheet remained intact.

For FFV Basel Women, the match was a difficult lesson in dealing with sustained pressure. Their captain worked hard to organize the team, and their goalkeeper made several saves to prevent an even larger margin of defeat. However, the visitors struggled to create clear chances and will need to improve their build-up play in upcoming fixtures.

Season Impact

The three points strengthen Etoile Carouge Women’s position in the SBW and provide a confidence boost after a demanding run of matches. A 3-0 home win, complete with a clean sheet, is the kind of result that builds belief within the squad.

FFV Basel Women will look to regroup quickly. The defeat highlights the importance of handling high-pressure situations and maintaining composure in possession. With the season continuing, both teams will take important lessons from a match that Carouge controlled from start to finish.
