Adelaide Olympic Dominate The Cove FC in Commanding 2-0 Victory

Adelaide Olympic returned to winning ways in the South Australia State League 1 with a polished 2-0 triumph over The Cove FC on Saturday afternoon. The result at Olympic Park saw the home side control proceedings from the opening whistle, moving them into a promising position in the mid-season standings.

The first half belonged entirely to Olympic’s midfield engine. With crisp passing and intelligent movement off the ball, they carved open The Cove’s defensive lines on multiple occasions. The breakthrough arrived in the 28th minute when a swift counter-attack was finished coolly by midfielder Luka Radonjic, who slotted past the onrushing goalkeeper after a clever through ball from striker James Powell.

Olympic doubled their lead just before the interval. A well-worked corner kick found centre-back Daniel Stefanovic unmarked at the far post, and his powerful header left The Cove keeper with no chance. At 2–0 up, the home side could afford to manage the second half with composure.

The Cove FC improved after the break, pushing forward in search of a lifeline. They created a few half-chances, notably a long-range strike from winger Jack Simms that flew just over the bar. However, Adelaide Olympic’s defence, marshalled by the experienced Stefanovic, remained resolute. Goalkeeper Michael Thomas was called into action only once, making a sharp save to preserve his clean sheet.

With this win, Adelaide Olympic climb to third in the South Australia State League 1 table, four points behind leaders West Adelaide. The Cove FC, meanwhile, remain in the relegation zone and will need to find greater cutting edge in the final third if they are to climb the standings.
