SP Domagnano produced a clinical second-half performance to beat Faetano 4-2 in the San Marino Cup, turning a tense knockout tie into a deserved away victory.

Faetano made the brighter start at the Campo Sportivo di Faetano and gave their home supporters an early lead, but Domagnano responded with composure and gradually took control of the midfield. By the time the final whistle arrived, the visitors had scored four times and secured their place in the next round of the San Marino Cup.

Match overview

The tie had the feel of a proper cup contest: an early goal, a quick response, and a second half that opened up as Faetano pushed for an equaliser. Faetano’s energy and direct running caused problems in the opening half-hour, but Domagnano’s sharper passing in the final third made the difference. The visitors were more ruthless when chances arrived and managed the closing stages with maturity.

Tactical story

Domagnano’s midfield trio controlled the rhythm of the game after the opening 20 minutes, pressing Faetano’s deep-lying midfielders and forcing turnovers in dangerous areas. The visitors also used width effectively, stretching Faetano’s back line before attacking the space between full-back and centre-back. Faetano remained a threat on the counter and through set pieces, but the gaps they left while chasing the game were punished late on.

Standout players

Casadei was the obvious match-winner for SP Domagnano, combining movement, hold-up play and two well-taken goals. Tomassoni’s pace gave Faetano problems throughout, while Giardi’s introduction from the bench added fresh energy and the decisive third goal. For Faetano, Valentini and Muccioli carried the attacking threat, but the hosts could not maintain their intensity after conceding the third.
