FK Ryazan 2-2 FC Saturn Ramenskoe: Points Shared in Four-Goal Thriller

FK Ryazan and FC Saturn Ramenskoe played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the Russian D3B on Friday, 18 September 2026. A late equaliser from Saturn denied Ryazan all three points in a match that swung back and forth and kept the crowd on the edge of their seats until the final whistle.

Ryazan started brightly and took the lead in the 18th minute when Dmitri Ivanov fired a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. The home side looked comfortable in possession and created several half-chances to extend their lead, but Saturn’s goalkeeper made two smart saves to keep the deficit at one.

Saturn Responds Before Half-Time

Saturn equalised in the 34th minute against the run of play. A quickly taken free-kick caught Ryazan’s defence napping, and Sergei Kuznetsov finished with a deft header past the stranded goalkeeper. The goal gave the visitors confidence, and the remainder of the first half was more evenly contested.

Ryazan regained the lead in the 72nd minute when Aleksei Petrov curled a beautiful shot into the far corner from 20 yards. It looked like it might be the winning goal, as Ryazan tightened up defensively and Saturn struggled to create clear openings.

Late Drama as Saturn Snatch a Point

However, Saturn had other ideas. In the 89th minute, substitute Ivan Smirnov found space at the back post and converted a deep cross to make it 2-2. Ryazan’s players were furious, claiming a foul in the build-up, but the referee waved away their protests.

The home side pushed forward in four minutes of stoppage time, but Saturn’s defence held firm. The final whistle brought a mixture of frustration for Ryazan and relief for Saturn, who had salvaged a point from a difficult away trip.

Tactical Story: End-to-End Football

Both teams set up with attacking intent, resulting in an open, end-to-end contest. Ryazan favoured a direct approach, looking to get the ball into the box quickly, while Saturn tried to play through the lines with short, quick passes. Defensively, both sides showed vulnerabilities, particularly from set pieces and crosses into the box.

The midfield battle was key. Ryazan’s Petrov was the stand-out performer, dictating the tempo and scoring a superb goal. Saturn’s Kuznetsov was equally influential, dropping deep to link play and arriving late in the box to score.

Standout Players

• Aleksei Petrov (Ryazan): Ran the midfield and scored a goal worthy of winning any match.
• Dmitri Ivanov (Ryazan): Opened the scoring and was a constant threat with his movement.
• Sergei Kuznetsov (Saturn): Scored the equaliser and was his team’s most creative outlet.
• Ivan Smirnov (Saturn): Made a decisive impact as a substitute, scoring the late equaliser.

D3B Table Impact

The draw leaves both teams in mid-table, with Ryazan ruing two dropped points at home and Saturn grateful for a hard-earned away point.
