CS Universitatea Craiova 5-0 Fotbal Club FCSB — in the standout result of the Romanian Super Liga round, Craiova produced a ruthless, near-perfect performance to dismantle FCSB in front of their own supporters, running out emphatic winners in a match that will be remembered for its intensity, precision and one-sided scoreline.

Match Overview

Few fixtures in Romanian football carry the weight of Craiova against FCSB, and this meeting more than lived up to its billing — though not in the way anyone expected. Rather than a tense, cagey affair, the game became a demonstration of clinical finishing and relentless pressing. Craiova were quicker to every loose ball, sharper in the final third and, crucially, merciless when chances arrived. FCSB, by contrast, never settled, and the visitors' frustration grew with every goal conceded.

Key Moments

• Early breakthrough: Craiova opened the scoring inside the opening quarter of an hour, setting the tone with a sharp, well-worked move.
• Rapid double: A second goal followed soon after, and a third before the interval left FCSB with a mountain to climb.
• Second-half control: Rather than sitting back, Craiova continued to press and added two more goals as the visitors chased the game.
• Clean sheet: The hosts' defensive discipline completed a perfect night — five goals scored, none conceded.

Tactical Story

Craiova's game plan was built on winning the ball high and attacking immediately. Their midfield trio suffocated FCSB's build-up, forcing long passes that were comfortably dealt with by a well-organised back line. In possession, Craiova attacked with width, stretching FCSB's defence before cutting inside, and their finishing was devastating. FCSB's attempts to play out from the back played directly into their opponents' hands, and once the deficit grew, the visitors' shape dissolved, leaving space that Craiova exploited repeatedly.

Standout Performers

Craiova's attacking players shared the goals and the plaudits, with the wide forwards causing constant problems and the centre-forward acting as both finisher and creator. The midfield anchor dictated the tempo and broke up play, while the goalkeeper's command of his area kept FCSB's rare forays harmless. For FCSB, it was a night of few positives — the goalkeeper was arguably the only player to emerge with credit, making several saves to prevent an even heavier defeat.

What It Means for the Table

Results like this shift the mood of an entire season. Craiova take a huge psychological boost, three points, a healthy goal difference and a statement win over one of the league's traditional powers. FCSB, meanwhile, face uncomfortable questions about defensive organisation and the ability to respond when a match turns against them. For the neutral, this was a reminder that the Romanian Super Liga title race is rarely straightforward — and that Craiova, on this evidence, intend to be right in the middle of it.
